I use this setup on my Rave ENV. Unregulated to my servos (using Align DS610s). your best bet is the Hyperion LiFe battery packs. I'm using the 2S 2100mAh 6.6V...they're very cheap and with the 2100mAh, i can get 4 flights on a charge. Simply plug it into your reciever (depending on manufacturer) and you're ready to go. Make sure that your servos are rated for the voltage of the pack though otherwise the whole point of running unregulate is ruined. I charge mine with a Hyperion DUO charger. I'm sure others will work fine as well though. I did have to get a seperate adapter to charge and balance it though. So far i'm loving the unregulated setup...one less piece of equipment to worry about and to possibly fail

Eric,

Did you make a lead to go from the pack connection to the rx? I'm looking at doing this on a plank and was wondering this. The pack comes with EC3's (i think). do you have a pic of the connection to the rx for reference?

thanks mang!

yes i did have to make the other end that goes into the reciever. I just soldered the opposite EC3 on and that plugs into the battery to connect the power. As you can see from the picture, i have the plug always plugged into my Total-G, and the battery connector just plugs into that connector when i'm ready to fly. Sorry it's kinda dark but hopefully that explains it a little bit

no problem. As you can see it's a simple wire going to the Total-G but i'm changing it to a coiled wire....similar to satelite RX wire. I found that with the little tiny wire i used, it's very weak on the connector. You might want to use a thicker wire , maybe at least as thick as the wire on the battery connector side

been running life packs for awhile now and have had no problems running the with out a regulator. now i'm changing my 700 back to nitro and was wondering if i could run the life pack voltage going through the align governor? the govn. says 4.5-6v, thats the same as the servos. i just don't want to have any problems with the voltage going through the governor, should i use a step down regulator? the throttle servo is going to be a ds620.

I use a Hyperion 2s 1700mAh cube-ish pack on my 550e and it works very well. I average about 125mAh per flight, so I can get about 12 flights per charge. I made my own harness out of some servo extensions. I tied them to the pack with a T-Plug and made a "switch" with an EC3. Here is a basic pic of it installed.
