My tail drive gear assembly is slipping upwards off the main gear. What would be the easiest way to fix this?

thanks

I really hope I get an answer to this. Figuring out on my own how to build, troubleshoot, repair, and performing a VERY poor setup has sucked.

Anyways, would if I glued the bottom part of the tail drive gear into the lower metal bearng block? That would hold it down, would that work?? (i see about 1/16" of shaft that fits into the bearing)

Is the small gear slipping up on the shaft? Or, is the top bearing slipping down on the shaft? If it is the gear you 'might' be able to glue it, but if it's the bearing I think you should grab a new assembly. They're only $5

You're not too far from the SFV. You should head down to the apollo model air field some weekend. I'm sure there are guys that would help you out. That's where I learned a lot back in the day.

No, the gear and the pulley (where the belt fits on) are not slipping on the shaft. When you turn the main blades with your hand "clockwise" the small gear climbs UP off the main gear. I can then take my finger and push down on the pulley (where the belt fits on) while turning the blades and seat the gear back onto the main gear where it's suppose to be.

If I turn the heli upside down and look into lower bearing block, I can see the shaft. I was thinking of adding just a very small drop of CA in there without getting any on the outside of the bearing, maybe that will hold the shaft in place ...does that sound like something worth trying??

Apollo airfield is about and hour and 15 from me. Getting help here on the forum is a BIG help, I can usually figure things out.

That shaft should not move like that -- somethings WRONG -- look at the align sport manual to find out whats missing. Glue mayhold but for how long? and on the tail! Your choice but please dont flyit around people glued :0)

I reject your reality and substitute my own :0)

It sounds like your upper bearing is moving. That's the only thing keeping it down. You need a new assembly.
Make sure you get the one that comes with the belt pulley off or one that uses a set screw to hold on the belt pulley. I've pulled out my hair out with the ones that are all assembled and wrecked 3-4 trying to get them apart to install.

I think you want this one- http://www.helidirect.com/trex-comp...-set-p-1103.hdx

I'm about to buy it a see if it works on my hk450v2, but of course they're out of stock at the moment.

The only other thing you could do is to add a collar/spacer that goes between the small gear and the upper bearing. Not ideal though because it needs to be a perfect fit. plus, the bearings that come with it originally are crap and are probably worn out by now.

thanks for the replys. I tried the gluing and it wouldn't hold at all. I went ahead and ordered the new Align assembly, along with some frame screws. Feels like some of the screws are stripping.

I may need help with doing the replacement. The head and tail need to come of first right? Remove the screws where the upper and lower block is and pull out the assembly? Anything to make it easier on me?

I got the part but because it sticks up farther than the original gear, it runs into the elevator servo horn. Otherwise it seems to fit fine.
My fix was to add riser pieces on the top of the servo rails to move it farther out of the frame.
