Lift helped setup my heli and everything ran fine, Until I did something stupid.........

I accidentaly pressurized my fuel tank, without unplugging the check valve return line when i filled the tank.

Then the problem came. I noticed that the engine would not idle well. The engine would cut-off anywhere below mid stick even with the throttle trim all the way up. However, it ran fine during the mid and high range.

As a shut down procedure, I put after run oil in the fuel line so that it could it into the engine effectively, while also placing a few drops where the glow plug inserts to keep the bearings from corroding.

One week later, the engine would not start, it appeared to not draw fuel into the fuel pump.

I took the carberator apart, boiled it, flush out the pump regulator with fuel. Now, the engine starts, but only above mid throttle stick. The engine still has excellent compression and does well above mid stick, it just continues to sputter, and shut off below mid stick despite low-end needle adjustments.

Any suggestion besides sending the engine into Y.S.?
Are there any more YS guros with some other tricks they would like to share? All comments are welcomed.

Check Valve

Did you try replacing the check valve?

Try to clean the carburettor again.

Remove carburettor, remove needles and use this engine cleaner/nitro cleaner spray and clean everything troughly with this stuff. put everything back together, set needles as per factory default, and try to run the engine.

If the problem still persists you may want to have a look at the fuel pump and fuel lines.

You may aslo want to clean and check the check valve, but usally if the engine would at least idle nice even if the check valve is not really OK.

Cheers

Thanks guys for the replies.

Basically, there apparently was nothing wrong with the engine after boiling the carberator and flushing the fuel pump, it turn out to be more a mechanical problem. The throttle linkages needed to be shortened, as well as adjusting throttle end-points in order to get full throw of the throttle servo. Now all is well and my heli is displaying awesome power.
