I sent my engine back to Ace for the second time Tuesday, then I talked to Ashley on the phone yesterday.

The head had been coming loose causing the engine to run lean and get hot. The reason the head came loose was that there were 2 gaskets in there! One was melted into the head, and the other was smashed up.

I replaced the original gasket about 2 months ago when I found it had gotten trashed, but I didn't put 2 in there, and I didn't have 2 gaskets pop out when I took the head off.

Could there have been 2 gaskets in the head from the start? Anyone else have anything like this with a TT or any other engine?

You must have put it there yourself ?? As you say you replaced the gasket so I assume it ran properly before that. And you surely were lucky that it just ran hot.
