Had a really amazingly lucky escape today.
Was flying my Fury Extreme, going really sweet.
About ¾ through the tank the heli suddenly lost cyclic. It was flip flopping all over the place, I tried really hard to get it level but the cyclic just would not hold and would go from one extreme to the other.
It was approaching the edge of our field at about 60ft high so I decided to cut the engine to minimize any ground impact damage. It began to fall, and I had no way to level the model.

It actually hit the dense hedge at the edge of the field vertically.

On close examination the hedge saved the model completely.
What happened was that the really think brambles wrapped around the head and actually caught the model in the air. The model was sat there in the hedge, about 3 ft in the air with it’s engine still at idle.
Most amazing thing was that there was hardly any damage.
Only a slightly bent fly bar, broken rear fin mount and a slight crack in the canopy.

Looks like CH1 on the RX has some kind of servo contact problems. Need to take it out to check.
It all passed the preflight load test though.

Shendi,

Glad to hear you were spared the carnage... can you tell us what caused the accident? Was it a stripped gear or???

My 149DP RX failed.
I did a full pre-flight OK, but lost CH1 in flight.

Taking the RX out of the heli, it appears that there's some kind of bad contact or bad solder joint inside in RX, as if you give it a squeeze it works. Seems to effect channels 1 to 5.

It's gone back to Futaba (Ripmax here in the UK) for a service.
It was only 2 months old.

SENECA is sometimes a bit of a "reactionist" ... he posts things just to wind people up and see if he can get a reaction out of them, even if he doesn't mean or agree with what he posts.

Bit like playing Devils Advocate

But he seems like a good guy

The French.. Now there is a country full O' folks you can make fun of.. Kinda like picking on people in trailer parks.. Too, easy..
Maybe if they had won a battle, let alone a war, in the last 150 years, they would'nt go around talking through there noses and cranky all the time..

I don't understand your post. Are you talking to me or Seneca??

Btw have you ever been to France? Stunning country .....

A country's ability to wage war is not IMHO a good indicator of its status

Seneca, with all due respect, I ask that you not refer to the actions of the Imperial Federal Government as the actions of "we." And while I'm at it, I urge you to look up the history of how it was formed, and why and how it does the things that it does overseas. The answers cannot be found in the education offered in it's government schools.

Unfortunately misinformed views such as these are often on display as indicative of the general consensus of the people of this nation, to our friends overseas, and this is not the case. The most misinformed on both ends of the spectrum are often the loudest.

Perhaps we should return to the topics relating to radio controlled aircraft if we cannot realize that we are in this together, and our enemy is not the Arabs, the Germans, the English, nor the French. Fox News Channel does not speak for me, and neither do you, and it would be best that you do not represent yourself with such hostile quips to our friends overseas, jokingly or not, with a basis in misinformation.

Respectfully,

W.Walden
