some of the videos I download from here are really slow...choppy if you will...the slow ones that arent worth watching are under 500 K bits per sec as they play after being downloaded or unzipped....they seem to work for other people fine, what am I doing wrong with these files?

Well, if you're streaming it, then it will be slow because of the high bandwidth needed. Save it to your HDD first, then watch.

Also, the latest encoding for large high quality files requires a faster processor and video rendering in order to play it smoothly.

It could also be a bad file or corrupted download.

I know that the codecs you are using will make a difference also, if you are playing videos such as DivX or MPG and they are choppy, you might want to try a different codec. I had this problem a while back on MPEGs, VERY CHOPPY. When I installed my DVD software it came with a better MPEG codec and all was well. If you are having problems with WMV files and have this problem, it may be time to upgrade something.
