Just bought a GY502 for a raptor 60.

Any one got any tips for installing on Raptor 60 or setting up the gyro on a 3810 / 8310 radio . What channel is best etc ..

Cheers

I have GY502's in all my heli's they're great gyros.

When I put them in my Rappy 60 and 90, as with the smaller raptors I reduced the AVCS sense on the gyro to 80% this allows you to increase the HH gain slightly higher than would otherwise be possible thus really locking the tail in.

The channels to use are rudder and gear for JR radios or in the case of Futaba channels 4 and 5.

Linkages

As long as you follow the manual for setting up the linkages and the gyro you wont go far wrong.

To achieve a basic setup on the bench, with the servo horn in the centre of the travel the rod should be sufficiently long to give a gap of 4.5mm between the inside edge of the brass sleeve on the pitch slider and the side of the tail gearbox, this is about central as far as tail thrust goes.

The blades will be angled slightly but thats fine as it should hold straight in the hover. When you are setting up the gyro, first hover in normal mode adjusting the trim if necessary to achieve a nice straight hover, then set the linkage to be the trimmed out position with the trim now central and then hover it again to make sure it is right.

Once that is done, making sure the trim is central on the TX flick it in and out of HH 3 times in the space of 2 seconds, you should see ***** come up on the screen of the gyro amp, that means that the central position has been memorised in HH mode and youre away.

Cheers,

Peter.

Thanks

One last question , how does the gain work . Is it the same as the 401

E.g 0-50 , normal
50 - 100 HH

and on normal 0 being the highest setting ?
