Guys...

Just put an OS 90sxh into one of my raptors, and have a wierd problem.

The heli formally had a webra 61, which i ran on a GV1 and it worked fine. Put the 90 in, and reset all the travel idle + high bits on the GV-1 and i now cannot go into a full power climb without the engine making a strange noise.

It sounds like the throttle servo is "bouncing" at the top of its range. The engine sound like its dropping off then revving up again, and does it about 2/3 times a second (i.e quick succession). The headspeed appears constant, and the climbout rate is what i would expect for a 90.

If i turn the GV-1 off, and perform the same move, there are no probs, so its definatly a govenor issue. Engine has the carb set up fine....

Headspeed is 1650.
Pitch is +12 at the top.
OS 90 sxh on CP 15%.
68cm nhp.
gear ratio is 8.27:1

The throttle servo is a cheapie (a 3001)....could that be it? Seems strange that i ran ok on my 60 though...

GV-1 sens is 97%....

Cheers for any help.

Pete.

Yea did that.

Could it be the servo? What do you guys use on the throttle?

You could have a bad servo, thats the easiest thing to check 1st, put a different servo in there, and see what happen. Personnally, I like using a fast servo, I use a Hitec 525BB high speed servo, but that really doesnt sound like thats the problem, you may have just fried the servo. My flying buddy was using the exact same servo on his furys throttle, and it was bouncing during hover, I watched it when he hovered with the canopy off, he changed the servo, and wahlah problem solved.

Your fuel mixture is incorrect. The GV-1 will try to increase engine power to maintain rotor speed during climbout. If the mixture is off the engine will overspeed, the gv-1 will reduce throttle and then increase again to maintain speed. This sounds like the engine is wah wahing.
Try richer or leaner on the high needle.

I agree with the mixture issue. I had the same problem on my 91 SXH and with the canopy off you could see the throttle servo going back and forth. Work on getting the setting closer and the GV1 will work great. Good Luck with the 91 SXH I am ready to toss mine. Runs good but when you give it full collective the engine cackles like it is too rich? Tried adjusting it to death, but everyone tells me to can it and buy the new C Spec.

Sounds to me like the clutch is slipping.

Did you install the new 3D heavy duty clutch?

The stock 60 clutch will not hold the torque of an OS90.
