This happened to me about a month and a half ago and have since fixed and flown my HS. Just forgot to post till now.
The story goes as this...
I had about 40 minutes before I had to leave, my batteries were charged and it was the last tank of fuel I had. I did my normal routine and started the heli, pulled the neck stap out of my shirt, and attached it to the radio. The heli went nuts!!! Seemed like full throttle, and just light enough to float on its skids - TOWARDS ME -
I had no idea what happened. I was frantically flipping switches and bangin the sticks to no avail. I don't know why I did, but I did. I turned power switch on, then the heli suddenly returned to a more normal idle state. When it idled down, it tipped over and did some concrete trimming with the blade tips, and had an RPM of about 0. That was a $35 fix (blades and main shaft)
So kids do not turn of your TX when attatching your neck strap or at all.

Just thought I would share my stupid mistake.

Look at CY's site he modifyed his strap connector not to do that.
Let me guess you have a JR Radio.

Do you have an address for that site?

And yes I do have a JR. Do other radio not have this problem?
I can tell you this, it happened so quickly I had about 3 seconds before there was going to be some seroius damage. The switch seems to be very light on the presure to turn on and off.

It is also bad to turn off your transmitter if you have an electric helicopter. I turned off my transmitter with my Ikarus Piccolo sitting on the bench. The main rotor went to full speed (of course) and chopped me in the hand. Fortunately just a very minor cut. Could have been worse if I had a larger electric heli.
Question is, why do the helis tend to go full power when the radio is off?

There is no input o the reciever. The servos go wacko around neutral.
That is what I have gathered from all of my RC ventures.

Never have and never would have of!!! Now tha is a very impressive setup. Looks like something one would see on the Sci-Fi channel.
Let's call it a "Space Time Combobulator"

Hoorah for PCM I guess; One more layer of pretection if setup properly.

As an aside, Curtis did that to get the clearance he needed for his single-stick mod; nothing to due with switch/strap problems.

True but I mentoned it because at a funfly he also stated it gets fat fingers away from the on/ off button also when attacing the strap.
He said he has turned his radio off before. Also a guy at the field
we fly at did it to.
:-)
