Hello Everyone,
I'M currently trying to get my CSM 360 to interface with my computer using the cable diagrams and software from the "fritz the cat" website. I've tried both cable diagrams and niether seem to work. The program keeps telling me that there is a communication failure. I am Confident that my wiring is correct as I have been working with electronics for many years. My Parallel port is set up in ECP mode and everything looks correct with it.
If anyone has any Expirience with with this interface and could maybe help me out, it would be a great help. Thank you.

Sincerely, Jason K. Kroh

Creating a bootable disk for CSM interface

Hi Derril,
I have yet to see if my Gyro issue is solved, But this should help. If anyone else out there has suggestions let me know....

To solve the XP problem:
1. Make a DOS Bootable Disk- to do this place a 3.5" floppy in your drive. now open "My Computer" and LEFT click on the "A:" drive icon. Select "FORMAT". Toward the bottom of box, you will see "Format Options". Check the box that says "Create a MS-DOS Startup Disk". Click the "Start" button in that box and wait till the operation is complete. This disk will allow the computer to boot directly to a DOS prompt.
2. Copy ALL of the Gyro files on to this floppy disk. This will allow us to access the program from DOS.
3. Now restart your computer with the disk still in the drive. Eventually you will get to "A:\". Type GYRO after the command prompt and the program should start as normal, but now be running independant of Windows XP, 2000, or NT.
4. From there follow the instructions on the screen.

That should do it. If I have made any mistakes please let me know. This problem has had me scracting my head for a while, but thanks to Runryder we might be able to get this to work at last....

As always Thank you.

Get a windows 98Se or ME boot disk. You can get them from many places but http://www.bootdisk.com is a popular location.

When you have the bootdisk, copy the interface program onto it.

Boot the machine using the boot disk - you will end up in DOS. Run the interface program from there.

If you want a dedicated interface disk, then you could simply add a line to the autoexec.bat file at the end to run the interface automatically as soon as the boot has completed.

Without going into too much detail, the problem arises because of additional security that NT operating systems place on the parallel and COM ports. Windows 95, 98 and ME do not have this security feature.

Cheers,

Nigel
