Just got this in an e-mail. I am thinking it is a hoax, but something to think about....

BE ALERT to UPS uniforms

Government regarding purchase of UPS uniforms: BE ALERT!!!!

There has been a huge purchase, $32,000 worth, of United Parcel

Service (UPS) uniforms on eBay over the last 30 days. This could

represent a serious threat as bogus drivers can drop off anything to anyone

with deadly consequences! If you have ANY questions when a UPS

driver appears at your door, they should be able to furnish VALID

I.D..

Additionally, if someone in a UPS uniform comes to make a drop off or pick up, make absolutely sure they are driving a UPS truck. UPS doesn't make deliveries or pickups in anything except a company vehicle. If you have a problem, IMMEDIATELY call your local law enforcement agency right away!

TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! Tell everyone in your office, family,

friends, etc. Make people aware so that we can prepare and/or avoid terrorist

attacks on our people! Thank you for your time in reviewing this and

PLEASE send to EVERYONE on your list, even if they are friend or foe. We

should all be aware!

Clever idea, but no one from the Department of Homeland Security or any other agency with any amount of authority would ask someone to "please send to everyone on your list"...

Galifrey -

Excellent. Did you know how UPS got their name to begin with?

Their first drivers all had carpal tunnel syndrome, and they used to drop the packages all the time, often saying "Oops" as they did.

Well, the name stuck, but the marketing people changed it from Oops to UPS.

Also, as an FYI, UPS does use rental vehicles (such as Ryder and Hertz) during peak delivery times, particularly Christmas.

Ok..

Well now that a bunch of people have read this and came to the same conclusion I am glad I posted it.
I do not believe this is true....HOWEVER It could happen? And I believe in information. I never really thought about it till someone sent me this, but how hard would it be to play "halloween" and drop off a very nasty surprise to someone.
I don't forward this crap either, but I thought it would be interesting discussion on here since we ALL get UPS shipments. Some of us more than others.

To add, I work for the U.S. Department of Education. I contacted friends in that department of they have no emplyeee by that name. Although as a general rule that hoax is not to far fetched, you should always generally inspect your carrier and packages when they arrive.
