I am learning to fly a JR Ergo 30 CCPM with a OS 32 heli engine with Westin pipe and OS # 8 glow plugs. Recently, I have had several occasions where the engine would be making a faint sound that was unusual, I would land and check the glowplug and the wire inside would be pulled out or almost completely missing. Obviously, I replaced the glowplug, however, before noticing the warning signs, I had a friend helping me get everything setup properly and he was hovering well, but when he started forward flight, we had a flame out! At fifteen feet with little negative pitch programmed at that point - it was an ugly auto...any ideas on what may be causing this?

Are you running it too lean??
Does it seem to be okay for a short time then starts a "crackling noise".
If so your high speed needle is set too lean. My OS 32's run about 1 turn out on the main needle with weston pipes, BUT that is after they are broken in

The motor has too much compression to use with a pipe, this is why the wire is pulled and broken. Too lean will just cause the wire to move a little and will turn it dull. Too much compression will blow it out of the motor. I had a Hatori pipe on a baron with a OS32 and i had to lower the compression to get it to run right,it also causes it to run too hot.
The OS is designed to run on low nitro 15% so it has high compression.

I agree, try a head shim. If you are patient and carefull, you can cut one out of a coke can. Be sure to wet sand the paint off first.
