Price

165.00 is the going rate for new not used 401 gyro. with servo.

I would take that, paid 219.00 for it. 55.00 of the list price.

Trying to figure out why she hasent sold for that already.

Putting up a price is a good idea though.

Sorry all.

Later,
Bret.

share with us your info

novanuttz you say you can get them on the internet for 175.00, but you lack in saying where.

I know you can get them for 165.00, ebay, but they are grey market items.

If you know where to get these gyros for only 175.00 NON GREY MARKET. let us know so we all can benifit.

Grey market is items that will not be honered by Great Planes for warrenty work. You half to trust that the people selling it will back it up.

On ebay it says in his discripition on the gyro, that he will honer it till you put it in the heli and use it. After that your on your own. But you half to take his word on it.

Hope this helps,

Bret.

For the shoppers:

Take it from someone who just finished shopping worldwide for parts for TWO helis . . . $150-155 shipped is fair for a grey market with little or no use and a NIB US model is easily worth $175 shipped.

Give the guy a break!

For biglahou:

The $219 originally paid is unfortunate because $199 is a very common price for a new, US model. Also, put this up in the "Electronics" section of "Classifieds" and you'll get more interested parties and less debate!

Not grey market

For anyone who needs to know, this is not a grey market item, is new from hobby store, and is covered by Great Planes.

You can find cheaper, but I am asking same price as what you can get it on the grey market. 165.00 plus 5.00 shipping.

Hope this helps

Bret.

Check this out

401 gyro w/ 9253

Oops, I stand corrected, it's 174.95 and Yes I know it's Japan, it does carry the same same manufacturers warranty. The shipping options are reasonable, it may take a couple more days, but time is something I have plenty of, not money.

Sorry

But that is 100% grey market item, Great Planes will not cover the warrenty for that gyro.

Call Great Planes and they will tell you if you do not buy in the US they will not cover the warrenty on the Futaba item.
And Great Planes is the only place in US that services Futaba.
Must be bought in the US.

That is a fair price for grey market. And I really dont think you will have a problem with it.

But the 401 gyro that I bought on the grey market the servo just burnied up on me, and I will not be able to get it fixed by great planes.

The guy I just sold the gyro to told me that they have been seeing 9253 servos burning up.

I bet if you do a poll on the servos that are burning up, and see if the ones that are burning up are grey market's, I beleive that more are on the grey market. Just my opinion.

By the way the best price on this gyro on the US market, not grey is going for 200.00. Give or take 10.00.
Dont take my word for it NOVANUTTES Call great planes they will tell ya the info you need to know.

One more word

Ok couple words,

Novanuttz let say you go buy a grey market item and lets say you lose your servo in flight, crash goes the heli, would you feel better to know that the 100.00 or so in repairs was due just to a bad servo "US sold servo" or save couple bucks and it was due to a grey market servo.

I am now worried that any grey market item that is installed on the heli could be bad.

But this forum and everyone reading this is grey market good or bad.

Has people with defected items, seen more with grey market or they just the same.

Only us pilots will tell.
Think about this they best way for us pilots to get into our pockets and spend money is when our helis crash, crash means sells.
Maybe put out some bad items here and their, makes good sells.

Ok maybe I just opened a can of worms but I guess that's life in all things right. I think it's worth putting the extra buck in to buy US.
Better odds.
Sorry I'm in the wrong thread talking about this. But just trying to help.

Bret.

For what it's worth, I've got three gy401/9253 combos and am about to recieve #4. Although I don't know for sure, I suspect that are 3 out of the 4 are grey market. Although I have not had to send any of these in for repair, all of them have performed well despite my tendencies to crash their associated helis every now and then. I do not expect warranty repairs for any of these; I'll pay the going rate to repair them if needed.

And the race goes on

Your right we all need a good deal once and a while, but like Rick said to me from Rick's hobbies in Texas, you get what you pay for in this hobbie.

Roll the dice and see what fate may bring.

Good luck all

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH. Bought 3 149dp's from a nationally advertised and very reputable local hobby shop. Guess what? 2 of them were bad, guess you take your chances where ever you shop.
I have not had any trouble with grey market Items, the majority of the stories you hear about are almost always attributed to operator error.
the fact is that quality control these days allows for a very small percentage of defects regardless of where they are purchased.
Now, if I can get a warranty with the item no matter where it is geographically, I'm all for it.
Don't get me wrong, I still purchase quite a bit from LHS and US hobby shops, but sometimes the customer service is rotten.
also the grey market is having an effect on US prices and are finally making it more reasonable for the fiscally challenged.
