What's a good general rpm speed to have set for 50 size and larger machines ??
A speed to do basic 3D's ( loops , stalls , rolls , ffd flight).

I know different helis , different blades / fuel , etc will make a difference to rpm / performance , etc.Need the info as a guide.
I have my voyager 50 at 1850 , seems to be too fast and nippy.
My vigor at 1850 , seems ok.

Its a speed that you have to find out yourself. Everyone has their own personal setting. I tried flying with headspeeds from 1500-2000 and I find I like a speed that is between 1750-1850. If my headspeed is within that range my rappy is happy.

I find that a low headspeed (1500) was a little mushy while flying. It is okay if you fly slow and starting out, but once you fly faster and turn quiker the head will put a lot of stress on the engine and cause it to quit.

I ran 2000 a while ago and it is really too high so lowered it. What I liked about it is that the heli wouldn't bog down as much in a roll. This headspeed will put more stress on the head and less on the motor.

Try to start off with 1750. That is usually a good headspeed for intro into aerobatics. The 3D headspeed is probably around 1850, but these speeds differ with the heli. If your vigor is fine then don't change it.

I run about 1850 to 1900 rpms on my Raptor 50. I think after 2000 rpms on a Raptor you go past the peak power.

If you're using 8.5/1 gearing on a Raptor 50 for example, the motor turning at 16,000 RPM equates to a headspeed of 1882 RPM.

It really depends on your gear ratios and flying styles. If you want the most power out of the system you probably need to wind the head up to 1850 RPM for max. performance. 1750 at 8.5/1 is only 14, 875 engine RPM and the 50 isn't in it's peak powerband at that RPM.

On the otherhand, there's nothing wrong with running it a 1750RPM, it will be a little quieter, sips less fuel and still flys good. It's a nice cruising RPM.
