Man what kid is building these for MA? I got my new tach today and it would not spool up , I first found 2 missing screws on the PCB, atleast it sure looks like 2 are missing, then I found the problem, the wheel was glued on and apparently still wet when put in the case and it put a blob on the case which rubs the blob on the motor shaft, also the wheel is cocked and vibrates like mad, what a piece. I'm pissed.

BTW Is the new model the 4 AAA or the 9V ?

Because they often fail to respond. And these are NOT made by them, they are subbed or outsourced to another person, or persons who obviously don't have the same standards as MA, BUT once again something MA is NOT doing is hiring good subs, this seems to be
the norm for MA now. MA needs to learn that their use of subs can hurt them. And I'm out the return shipping cost and it just steams me to see
this poor quality.

You have a right to bitch, the tachs are not cheep and should not be put together so. I would insist on a new tach shipped and returned at MA costs, not yours.

They are a great product but if you didn't let us know about it then everyone continues to think that some are infalable. Everyone makes mistakes but now if we start to see the trend then their should be concern.

Thanks for the info.

I've had my MA tach for about a year and a half. It has the 4 cells in it. THe tray for the 4 cells has a connector for 9V battery but DON'T USE A 9V battery. The 4 cells are 6V (1.5 ea) and 9V will burn up the motor.....ask me how I know

Why on earth did they leave the 9V connector in there if you're not supposed to use it?

You give'em hell Adam. This is a sounding board for the heli community and last time I checked it was still legal to voice an opinion good or bad.

I really don't think he intended to cry about it on RR and not bother talking to MA about it. Adam is a loyal X-Cell customer for 5 years or so, I think he's earned a right to gripe when something is ligitamently wrong.. MA certainly has profited from that loyality in the past and I'm sure will continue to do so in the future.

Obviously Adam has a problem with his tach and I'm sure that MA will resolve the issue in time... however that doesn't preclude Adam from stating a fact that he got a bad unit and paid through the nose for it too boot.

If this were a $25.00 tach you may expect QC issues. However that tach cost well over $100.00 and it really ought to work right out of the box and when it don't, the manufacturer can expect a little heat.

I think this sort of thing actually helps keep the manufacturers a little more honest and accountable for problems.

They know they will get flamed on these boards by their customers when they drop the ball, they also have a chance to shine when they do the right thing.

I know MA does not make the Tach but they do distribute them.
Call them and give them a chance. They have been very helpfull to me in the past.

It's going back to heliproz, Eric was slightly displeased about a 7 month backorder and you would think 7 months would be time to QC the things. He is going to deal with MA for me, and I feel kudos to hobby shops that will do that, my LHS has a you opened it, you deal with policy, and that means I don't buy much there.

And Raymond and others know I fly MA, period, they get my money too often , and we won't talk about last weekends dumb move of the week. Like how many have crashed/boom struck sitting on the ground?
