Hi,

Got a new OS50 And have rang 6-7 tanks through it. In the manual its says start at 2 turns out on the main, couldn't get it to lift off unless I leaned it 1 turn out is this normal or would that have something to do with my throttle curves? How long do these engine take to break in? What's the best/safest way to break them in?

Thanks Simon.

Sounds right. You start out and work your way in. It helps to prevent a lean run from the start. As far as the break-in, there are different methods. Some say a few tanks and some say a few gallons. I generally run a few tanks a minute or two hovering and equal time at idle then repeat. After that I just fly around in normal mode for several tanks with no hard transitions then I start fine tuning and let it rip. Do a search here and you'll get some other methods.

Thanks jkelly.

Thought it was ok it was smoking well, just seemed a bit extreme leaning it a whole turn

It was screaming abit, try it again tomorrow with my throttle curve down some more.

At the first break-in, I set 1.5 turn out on main needle to keep the engine not quit.
The crank case is cold after full tank.
I think it's ok for break-in, and lean it gradually to get the power.

I run my 50 at 1 1/4 turn out and its still a rich setting for it.
