First choice would be a UH for me as I have really liked that design. Simple head and tail design too. Unfortunately, I have not yet found a fuselage big enough ( or commercially available - no Len Mounts won't work ) to work. So, it looks like I may start on my second choice the big Vario 500 but it has to have the multibladed head. In the meantime - I just fly mine around and simply LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

500E

I did not forget the 500E, it is listed as MD500 which covers all models of the 500. McDonnell Douglas 500 series or Hughes 500's

Vario makes the 500, and the smaller jetranger. The 212s are made by Josef at VarioUSA. Besides the Jetranger, they are most likely turbine, however the large robinson mechanics from Vario might also do ..

Vario is working on a new home for turbines. This is the prototype and is using a PJ-W-R

I dont have any more info, other than it has been flown by a certain English Vario person

Maybe he will be able to add something to it.

You mean one of these?

Another prototype with the engine at an angle, presumable to reduce the effect of the heli on the turbine and the turbine on the heli

how aerobatic is it ? it is nice and big .. that looks like the Robinson rotor head ......

I already have an SP5 on order from jetcat, and i know there are a # of 3d machines coming out for that, but these will b more comparable to todays 60/90 sized glo helis ...

Hi Wojtek,

the Vario - XLV is not designed for 3D flying. It is too big and too heavy to do that. It was mainly to test the new mechanics for the Big Ranger and others which will be done in the future.

Not less, not more.

Regards,

Elliot

All that work and crappy shoes!!!!

Here they are, spending all this money on the fuse and turbine and mechanics and they throw on some crappy landing gear. The sound is cool and the fuse is close, but they just ruin it with the gear. Just about as bad as having a scale ship and keeping the stock gear on it. IT SUCKS!!!! But I'm biased!!

I'd have to say that I have yet to see a H-500 as big as the 1/5 scale hueys cause the sound of the trubines and those big rotor heads with just the 2 bladed head sounds exactly like the full size 500.

When the trubines get down to $2500 or lower, you will see them more often I trully believe!!! I know I want one!@!!

I had a choice....turbine or new shop. you guess which one!!!
