Hello together!

I´m new to R/C Helicopters and got a question:

I could get a complete Hawk III with unused motor - the model did not leave the eath from its own force.
It´s - as mentioned - complete with motor and servos. The price should be about 285$ (or 250€). A new Hawk IV will be 467$ without servos.
It will be my first heli at all.

Is the heli worth that or should I wait and spent some more money to a new one?

The other thing is that I didn´t know anyone who´s flying a century heli in this area - could I expect problems? But I got some guy´s who can also fly great und got a big knowledge about helis

I´m clearify what´s up with parts, but I heard that I could take the parts from the Hawk IV - so I hope that there will be no probs...

I hope you can help me make a decision and thanks everyone who takes the time reading my post and mayby had a little hint for me...

Marcus,

That's a good price IF the engine is good and IF the servos are good helicopter servos. If the servos are not up to helicopter specs (at minimum ball bearing output in good condition) and if the engine is not in good condition, it may not be a good deal at all.

All of the Hawk IV and Sport parts will fit the Hawk III, so that is not a problem. Keep in mind however, that the later version of Hawks have some very desirable improvements such as a 10 mm mainshaft, and greater pitch range that the Hawk III does not have. I personally upgraded a Hawk III to IV specs and ended up spending more money than if I had just bought a Sport.

Hope this helps with your decision.

The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

Worth It?

Hi Markus,
Greetings from an ex-GI who spent 9 years in your country. I miss it and hope to visit once again someday!

Check out Helicopter World . I don't know what the DM/$ exchange rate is these days. But you can get a brand new Hawk Sport through Helicopter World for $159.00 (US). Of course, the shipping might be a little costly.

Unless you are absolutely certain the used equipment you're looking at is in top notch shape, I would order a new heli. The Hawk Sport is designed to fly with basic radio and gyro equipment. In fact, if you fly fixed wing R/C models, you probably already own suitable radio equipment. Most "computer" radios produced by Futaba, JR and Airtronics over the last few years have programming built in to fly a heli. And, I'm sure the radios produced in Europe are the same.

As far as reliability goes......... If you follow the instructions closely when you assemble the Hawk Sport, it will give you many hours of flying time. My Hawk Sport is equipped with an old Futaba 8U radio, Hitec 605 servos, 1100mAh battery & CSM 400 gyro. I run an OS .32 heli engine. I have flown it many hours over the last year and a half with NO FAILURES. It is very easy to set up and maintain. And, it makes me very happy when my inexpensive little beginner helicopter out-flys all the more expensive, complicated helicopters around.

Go with Century, Markus, I don't think you'll regret it!

Hi marcus
Unless you know it's new and unused check the exchange rate and get a new hawk sport and while your paying get a couple of crash kits to have on hand. (just in case)
I have one and have flown it through several gallons of fuel with no problems. I have repainted the canopy three times already just to have something to do. GO Hawk.

Markus,,, you didn't say what motor ?? if you want this heli try to get the price down, because you can upgrade it, the Century Hawk with the right parts is a very nice little heli to start with, and when your ready you can put a 46 or 50 in it,,,

just make sure you can get parts for it where you live !!

good luck !! and ask if there is anything you need to know !!

Hi folks!

Thank´s for you replays!

Therefor it´s a little difficult to get parts for Century Helis in my area I decided to get another one (maybe a Robbe Ornith or a Raptor).

I will also check what e-bay has to sell.
I´ve been waiting for so many years to start with helis that a few days doesn´t make a diffrence...

Thank´s again and always some air beyond your landing gear!

Hello Reminder,

I think the parts are not realy a problem. Look at http://www.acteurope.de/ this is the century dealer for (Europe) Germany.

About the ebay auction, it looks like a nice chopper, but i thing the gyro is not one of the best?? and multiplex is not realy a Helicopter radio. But what do I know, i dont even own a heli(YET) |o:

Reminder,

I am learning on a Hawk 3 at the moment and loving it!!

I cannot comment on the individual deals you have mentioned but IMHO the Hawk 3 is a great training bird. Its cheap, tough and stable. And its tough!

Good luck whatever you choose
