Hello,

I just bought a Hummingbird from HeliHobby and it does not work.

I connected ever thing, mounted the stuff and put the Cristal in the transmitter.

I turn on the trasnmitter than i connect the battery.

The mixerbord than flashes red than green, red, green, red like there is no signal but the transmitter is 2 feet away!

If I turn off the transmitmer the servos go crazy.

I cant normaly move the servos

Help please! any ideas? I cant find my camera or i would take pics of it.

help is on the way

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

ok

this should be your Setup.

first off lets make sure the that the wires are all right.

looking at the rec with the servo pins on the left side you should have your servos in this order.

1 will be the top row.

1. servo that controlls left and right
2. servo that controlls forward back
3. servo wire that goes to the humming board ( short wire ) main motor
4. servo wire from gyro..

( All wires the dark wire will be towards the left )

on the hummingboard and everyone makes this mistake so read careful.

looking at the hummingboard again with the pins on the left side and the servo wires on the right.

the two top pins are for the tail motor when hooking the wire from the tail the top pin will be black and the bottom pin will be red.

the bottom two pins are for the main motor, when hooking the wire from the main motor the top wire is red and bottom wire is black.

when both wires are hooked up they should be black/red red/black when reading top to bottom.

ok now if all this is right, and you turn on your radio first make sure the stick for the throttle ( should be the left one ) is pulled all the way to the low position. before turning it on.

if you turn on the radio, then plug in the battery and wait about 10 seconds to make sure everything clicks then raise the stick and nothing happens or the lights blink red/green two things it can be.

first try this.

unplug the battery and move the throttle stick to the top and plug hte battery in again, most futuba radios you have to reverse the throttle servo its set reversed. now if the light is green and you pull the stick forward and everything works just unplug the battery reverse the servo switch on the radio move the stick to the bottom and plug the battery back in.

2nd if trying the setup fix above does not work the wire that is going from the hummingboard to the gyro might be hooked up the wrong way,
unplug the battery and move the stick for the throttle to the bottom and reverse the servo wire on the gyro, if the black wire is on the right turn it over so its on the left, or the other way around. then plug in the battery and try again, if nothing happens unplug hte battery move the stick for the throttle to the top and plug in the battery again, and see if it works.

thats everyting that you should have to try to get it to work, post a reply and let us know how its going..

Gear?

Well I have been to your site and man do you have alot of good info on there... Well from what i have read I had everything setup right.. But this is what I bought first.

- Base Hummingbird Kit
- GWS 4 Channel Radio Transmitter and matching crystals
- High Performance Servos
- Hummingboard Speed Controller
- GWS PG-03 Gyro
- GWS 4 Channel Receiver
- GWS Peak NiMH and NiCD Charger
- Battery Pack 8.4V and Connectors
- 120 degrees Aluminum Shaft Collar Modification
- Instructions and Decals

Now after spending many hours trying to get it to work with no luck and looking at some of the other treads i bought this

2- GWS 4 Channel Receiver " 1 JR and 1 Futaba" dont know the diffrence so i bought both to be safe.
- Hummingboard Speed Controller
- Channel 28 Crystals
- Hitec 4 Channel Radio Transmitter and matching crytsals

The only reason I bought the extra hummingboard is iam sure i burnt it up while changing the wires and it started spinning and hit the table.. I'm sure that I am buying to much stuff but here in Iraq and on a military post i can't go to a local hobby shop even if they had or knew what one was.. Any help would be great and thanks for taking the time to help.......

more help

Ok I hope this is of some help..

the GWS transmiters are on the JR freq so you first need to make sure your GWS rec has a J on it for JR if it has a F for fatuba it will not work.

next when hooking up your gear first and this will not hurt anything plug your hummingboard into your rec and plug in one of your servos next plug in the battery and dont worry about light on the board just move the sticks on your radio and see if you can get the servo to move, once you get the servo to move then pull it out and put the servo in another spot to figure out the corect placement off all the servos, also buy doing this you will find out if any of your servos have to be reversed, meaning if you push right and it goes left you need to follow the direction for your radio and either flip a switch move a little slider over or change the direction on your computer radio,

Next hookup the wires that go from the main motor to the hummingboard and the tail motor to the Hummingboard follow this example and you wont go wrong,

looking at the board there with the pins on the left side the top 2 are for the tail and the black wire will be on the top the red wire will be on the bottom, the main motor will hook up red wire on top black wire on bottom so it should be from top to bottom blk red red blk..

ok now if all is right and you have everything hooked up so far this is what you should have done.

hooked the wires from the 2 servos to the rec and the wire from the hummingboard for the main throttle to the rec hooked up the wire from the gyro to the rec and also the main and tail motor to the hummingboard.

lastly hook the wire from the hummingboard the long one to the gyro.

if you put this wire on wrong we will no in a minute so dont worry, all that will hapen is you might need to reverse the wire so just hook it up and will will come back to it if we have too.

ok dont worry about any fancy install either get the wires right and then make a note of where they go and then clean up the wires later.

now for the first moment of truth.. pull the trottle stick all the way down and center all your trims. plug in a fully charged battery pack and dont touch anything for 5 to 10 seconds..

if all is well and the board goes green raise the throttle to see if the main motor and the tail spin.

if they dont unplug the battery and first try reversing the wire on the gyro.

and then pull th estick all the way down and plug the battery in again. after waiting 5-10 sec try again..

this should be enough to get everything working if you have any questions drop me a line I will send you some color pictures that might help you also..

If I missed anything feel free to add your coments.
