I noticed when I was setting the pinion gear mesh with the main gear on my Rap60 that there was a high spot on the main gear. The pinion gear would be tight on that part of the gear and loose on the other side. I adjusted for the mesh for the tight part. I had the gear off tonight and I gave it a twirl on my hi point and it is both out of round and the teeth kind of wobble when you spin the gear and watch the outside edges of the teeth. This can't be doing anything any good. This is a new gear, should I worry about this? Do ya think I should just get another one and take my chances on it being round and true?

Mine is like this too. I'm sure after a couple gallons, it will wear in. The main gears on my Fury were the same way, and they "broke in" just fine, and are very smooth and free now.

I only have 2 gallons on my R70 now, and it still has the high spots, so I will see over time if it settles in.

I had that too

Both my Raptor 60 and 90 were the same, this wasnt too bad initally on the 60 running the stock kit pinion, but on the 90 with the larger 12 tooth pinion it was really tight and made some strange noises when the head was rotated.

Both these helis have been running for a while now and have both bedded in nicely, so dont worry about it too much, fly the heli and after around 3 gallons it should be meshing nicely.

Thanks guys, I'm at the three gallon point right now and I don't notice it anymore, not like at the beginning where I could hear the uneveness of the gear mesh when I spooled up. Now it's real smooooooooth.
