Word has it that there are some 800 sized electrics coming out soon. I wonder why they don't have 800 sized nitros...

Edit: That wasn't inflammatory enough. Let me try it again.

"Why are electrics the only power system, powerful enough to handle 800 sized blades effectively enough to mass market machines for them?"

Yeah, I like that better. Let me go pop some corn...be right back.

No nitro guys gonna debate how they can swing 800mm blades?

Logo XXtreme and Whipit (or something like that by MA) are going to be the next in electric power.

Whiplash, and I don't think they will make it for 800's. But I'm hoping the CY "Ballistic" will. The new YS 120 might swing 800's, but not as well as E power...

The new YS 120
I'd hate to feed that thing. Maybe 6 flights per gallon? At roughy 25$ per gallon? At almost 4$ per flight, I literally couldn't afford this hobby.

Gimme that spoon man.

Oh darn, it's spring and once again, I'm faced with finding out how many of my batteries have gone soft and need replacing. And, if I want to have all my helis at the ready, I bet I'm looking at over $1000. Even though I probably didn't average more than 25 flights per set of bats.

25 bucks gets all my nitros ready.

I'm in the same position, Packs lost punch and run time. I have to get new Flight packs for my Protos and my X5. Both 6S two flight packs per heli for both helicopters is going to set me back another $500 this spring. I know for a fact I did not fly $500 worth of nitro stick time.

I think electric is deceiving in more ways than danger!

All compared to .50 size nitro X5 = 500mm Blades Protos = 425mm Blades. Both using 45c brand packs (Volts)
Another ++++ Nitro Rules! Stick time per buck $ IMO and experience
***NITRO GIVES MORE STICK TIME PER DOLLAR***.

I don't even own a Nitro at the moment go figure

I bet your batteries will be of Higher C rating and/or cost less than they did this time last year. I bet next year I'll still be able to say the same thing...

Oh, and if you don't fly much, yeah I guess 4$ per flight wouldn't be that bad.

Just saying $500 of 30% would be 5 cases 20 gallons.
When I had a fifty that was over an hour flight per gallon.

7 min flights at 10 fill ups per gallon. I just round say 60 min x 5
Over 5 hours of solid 3D capable stick time (no soft flying) For $500

Yep, my volts packs got soft way before I hit the 5 hour mark
I also tried some turnigy nanotech they were worse

They still work but, definitely Need new packs to get my performance and flight time back. When packs are soft they are good for practice and warming up. Then bust out the NITRO and rip it till the gallons gone.

Electric = Soft over time

Nitro = hard core till the last drop.

Season after season Nitro rocks for solid power, even when you use the same gallon or case of fuel from the previous season.

Hey Rog....that was a good stir eh.

Honestly, it can go either way. Depends on how many helis you have and how much you fly. How well you can share packs...etc.

That's only 60 flights. Why don't you try some decent packs instead of only cheapo's. If a person bases their electric experience on only cheapo batts, then it's not credible. TP is claiming 600 cycles on the new 65C's. If so, that's 10 times the "5 hour" mark!

An 800 electric
I can't afford a decent charger and power supply for a 50 size electric. I can only imagine that an 800 would be only for the rich so to speak.

the cost of your bats and charging system would take a few seasons to be comparable too nitro cost wise.

for me my 550 electric is going to cost over 200$ for 2 Bats
I can buy alot of fuel for that 200$ and enjoy the long flight times
I'm realy on the fence this year about continuing with electric.

Yeah, if you fly 25 flights a year...
nitro will always give you more stick time per dollar than electric ever will.
and buying the more "expensive packs" only further proves that nitro is less expensive than electric over the run of 1 season
hmm 300$ could be lost in 1 crash or over discharged once not worth the risk. probably why most would choose the 100$ pack instead
