At an approved park where we can fly only electric, they are virtually deserted since a new site that allow both to fly got appraoved. Althou there are some electric flyer presence, nitro out numbered them easily over 9 to 1. So the nitro is diminishing is just a wishful thinking of an electric flyer. I wonder why .... .

The electric only park use to be filled with flyers every weekend morning before nitro got bann. That's sad coz that park have created alot of new flyer.

At our flying site, the nitro call the electric flyer a 2 mins flyer, and the electric call the nitro flyer problematic flyer, bear in mind that's just a friendly remarks we exchange on each other.

welcome to the dark side =)

I recently switched from both to elec only...Getting hard to find nitro nearby, and I prefer scale so the cleanup aspect is great, as well as not having to worry about burning up your clearcoat.

I thought I'd bring this post from another thread, over here where it should be.
There must be a form of psychosis involved with the decision to switch to E-power, because as soon a some one does, they instantly feel the need to convert those around them. Now, YS is making grounds on improving power with what should be a lighter overall package, and the E-crowd is out to denegrate their efforts to do so.

Many people simply don't like to charge large lipo batteries. I flew to an international F3A competition on the same flight as an E-pilot that carried several 10S 5300 packs into their luggage and was very nervous about the possibility of those packs creating an inflight emergency. All it would take is some form of luggage misshandling to potentially arc the packs.

I'd rather hear glow engine sound in the air than generator sound drowing out the pits. If you field has 120 power, its a lot easeir to fly electric. For my time at the field, I prefer to fuel, fly, clean, rather than fly, charge, go home, watch batteries charge for hours.

The RESULT and PROCESS are equally important to many pilots. Pros and cons eitther way. I just don't see the reason for all the E-pilots to down grade glow machines. If you want to fly E - have at it!! But understand, that some of us don't want the charging process of E-power and such.
Thanks,
Jim W.
It's typical "glow head" mentality, someone who doesn't know much of anything about E's. Every argument used is flawed, except their personal preference, and that's not really an argument. As a "watt head" this kind of misinformation is somewhat annoying. There is enough information even here on this one forum for people to get it right, but they seem to WANT to spread misinformation for some reason...what do you guys think?

Glow head...I like that one.

Just what information do you think is flawed? He seems to use a lot of "I think" and "some people don't like" and such. Hard to call that flawed. He does state that "all the E-pilots downgrade glow"...I think that is somewhat an exageration.

You are not supposed to check luggage with batteries FYI. Carry on only. And you run the risk of some TSA people giving you trouble there...I don't know how that goes really...just that...I don't know.
Of course I would not bring nitro fuel either...but I can buy that on the other end.

I think this thread has gone on way to long.
Thats what I think.

People are going to fly what they like to fly. For what ever reason they see fit. Thats the bottom Line.

Agreed! That's not what I have a problem with. I don't like to see all the misinformation being posted by people who don't know what they are talking about. I'm sorry, buy it's a pet peeve of mine.
If they don't want to fly E's, that's fine, but don't post a bunch of negative BS. Post real fact, or don't post...please! Then there will be very little argument, if any.
Bob, I will answer you when we here from some of our other friends.

OS55

Is it possible for a crankshaft to be bent on a OS55? If so, what would the results be? I'm still chasing my tail vibe and I know it's not the heli. I've changed all the tail parts so I'm beginning to blame the used engine I bought.

Yea yea, I wouldn't have this problem if I were electric
