I've seen more than once someone saying it would be really nice to be able to record actual voltage and current data during flight. Here is a product that can do it. If only it didn't weigh 4.5 oz with the Electric Expander.

Flight Data Recorder

I wonder what the prospect of having them produce a more streamlined unit capable of just voltage and current data logging would be. I think I will e-mail them right now.

Cool News

I exchanged e-mails with Bill Parry of Eagle Tree Systems about the size and weight of this system. He responded thus:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The weight and size of the current unit can be significantly
reduced by removing the recorder from the supplied case and either
shrinkwrapping or taping it, and using only 1 of the 4 Y cables. This
reduces weight of recorder and expander to just over 2 ounces, and
reduces size also. Additionally, you could hard-solder the expander to
the BEC/battery, further reducing weight by eliminating the Deans style
connectors and wires on the expander.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think two ounces may just be acceptable for this type of capability.
