I assume you had no trouble downloading it. I had an extra V-Bar unit siting in a box that I upgraded this morning to 5.1 without a hitch.

On the governor setup, I strongly encourage those wishing to use it go to Mikados online setup help ( http://www.vstabi.info/en/governor )or by clicking on the book botton in the PC software. The governor give so much flexibility that it can be confusing to some if not most. Mikado did a great job explaining the various operating modes on their website help pages.

If you need additional help, feel free to post here on RR as several of us were involved in the beta testing and have been through the learning curve. Also, Mr. Mel has some excellent videos of the governor setup on You-Tube.

Alright guys, just got back after putting in 4 flights with 5.1. The update process was extremely easy, no problems there.

The new software had the Paddle simulation value set to 20 as default. I did not touch any of my existing settings other than just turning the main rotor optimizer back on. I mainly wanted to see how the cyclic felt after the update, so I have not yet setup the new governor feature.

First flight, I IMMEDIATELY noticed a significant difference on how the machine responded to sharp and rapid cyclic inputs, especially on the elevator. I've always felt that the response between the aileron versus the elevator on the V-Bar to be rather unbalanced. Compared to how my X5 flew with the stock flybarred head, the V-Bar could never "track" rapid elevator stick movements as well as it could with aileron. The elevator would feel a little "mushy" around center, while the aileron felt fairly "sharp". This feeling has mostly been done away with, and the elevator doesn't feel nearly as disconnected to my stick inputs as it had previously. I'd say before the 5.1 update, the Microbeast performed better than the V-Bar in this area, but now I think the V-Bar steps it up a notch or two.

On the second flight I increased the Paddle simulation value up to 40 and I must say, the cyclic feel is INFINITELY more natural now then it was on 5.0. "Smack" style flying was very comfortable, probably the best I've flown on a FBL system. Cyclic performance during pirouetting maneuvers is INCREDIBLE. I tried some pirouetting-flips, and pirouetting tic-tocs and I can honestly say that cyclic timing now feels "just like a flybar". Standard tics-tocs are also much improved, with the elevator no longer feeling slightly behind my inputs.

For the third and fourth flights I put my good set of packs in the X5 and proceeded to BEAT the heli. For my style of flying, I could not pick out any odd tendencies, be it during low and hard smack type flying, or fast and smooth big-air type flying. One thing I should note is that it was mildly windy this evening but, with that said, the V-Bar had no issues holding the X5's attitude during all aspects of flight.

Overall, 5.1 is a HUGE step forward for the V-BAR. I'm extremely picky with how my machines feel, and I am excited to see that Mikado has listened to us "paddle" fliers, and given us the tools to tweak the V-BAR to the kind of response we've come to expect.

Glad to hear

Lot of work to do for me. I have a Mini-V which I'll love to try on my FBL ENV but MiniV is for electrics so I'll try BeastX and TotalG on my ENV and the MiniV on the 6HV

But very happy to hear that Vbar is giving the stick bangers a reason to get in FBL

Very good report Al. I will get to test fly my 600SE tomorrow morning. I will start with 20 on paddle sim and go up from there.

Just got done with a test flight on the Logo 600SE, Pyro motor, CCHV160, 8717's, 8900g, and Edge 693's on 12s. I used the CC Gov as I have not setup the Vbar Gov yet. I was really impressed with 5.1. Very snappy, very responsive. I used the default setting of 20 on the paddles and will increase it this afternoon, but even at the default setting it is very nice. Cant wait to tinker around with it more.

It is hard to believe how quiet the Total G camp has been. My buddy fly's one and loves it, but then again he has not flown a vbar or Beastx.

Wanna know something funny...

The "paddle simulation" feature is a very nice addition to the "adjust-ability" of the V-Bar, so we all can have our particular piece-of-cake and eat it too.

But...

While helping Uli with the Beta testing of the update, as we went back and forth about how it flew and the effects it had etc., Uli commented at one point that he wasn't really sure he was even going to include the feature. HA! Hmmm, I think it was a good choice to include it, as many already like how it "feels".

Having the choice is a great addition to the V-Bar...not to mention the governor function. Although Kyle appreciates the difference in how the "paddle simulation" makes the heli fly, he has been flying the "native" V-Bar for so long now, he prefers to ignore the feature.

To each their own, and hail to the ability to choose

Dave thats probably why Uli didnt see a need for it either...too used to flying the native version

Its a good thing Uli is open to other peoples feelings on what to add to the V Bar so guys like Al are comfortable.

I personally prefer not having the snap because I too am used to that typical fbl feel at center previous to the center acceleration but after flying a flybared heli again I can see why those who are switching over apprecieate the new feature. V5.1 was definitally awsome to try out.

I got 4 more lights on my Logo 600 and two more on the Trex 700E and all I can say is WOW! I really like the difference in the cyclics and I have the paddle simulation @ 20 for now. I am going to leave it there and just get some stick time as I really like the way it flies
