oh i know. it was there, on my desk... just... sitting there.. i felt inferior constantly talking about "the real machine" being left at home, while i flew my little 30. sure its fun, but you just need power sometimes.

speaking of power, do you know of a way to keep the tail from blowing out? i can get a pred tail to lose its holding pretty easy. are there any speed up gears or something i can try? running 95mm rotortechs on an OS61 powered SE.

Indrid,
How funny! Mark and I both have Predatoritis as well. They are just way to sweet to have just one. The newer kits all come with the center-ball spindle. So, all you need is a kit.

How are you getting the tail to blow out? As for the tail if you get the cutout 3D fins and keep the headspeed up you won't have any problems. The Predator has a 1:4.66 gear ratio. That is more than enough IMHO. But, I haven't been able to blow the tail out on either or my Preds and they both have the 3D cutout fins.

just giving it full muscle it blew out. i.e full throttle, the tail would wag pretty good. i dont know if the 60 didnt have enough power or what, but i have a 601, an OS70, and a MP2 coming for it soon as i sell the raven to mad maxx. will be getting rid of a 401 and some stuff on ebay as well....

but i will try the gorilla grip 601 first, if that doesnt work then i will go up to 105s.

also, i will be painting a new canopy.... what HOK paints you recommend? i saw 1 oz amounts for as little as $9.

Indrid,
What do you mean when you say "blew out"? Are you saying that on a full power climbout that the heli just piroetted? If so then your gyro is not set right or it is defective. If that were the case on all Preds then no one would be able to flip/tumble/tick-toc/ etc because the tail would be going nuts. So something is not right..... It's ok for the tail to walk 5 degrees on a hard input but not completely loose control.

As for the paints that is a subject question. I have been using the Shimrin Neons on all my helis. Also, the their Primer Sealer is a MUST have as it gives you a nice white surface to start from and keeps the colors vibrant. But, do yourself a favor and use their Primer Surfacer as well. I have tried other brands surfacers and for some reason it never holds as well as theirs when used with the HOK line. My tests are usually after a crashed canopy I inspect how well the paint stuck to the surface and how flexible it is. But, ANY of the paints are good! The Tangelo Orange is gorgeous as well all of the pearls. I haven't shot any but a guy here in Houston(Hammer) uses them alot and the are very very nice. They are on my list for my next paint order.....

If you want to get funky check out the "Chameleon" colors.

Most of the time when the tail blows out it is the T/R servo.

Look @ the torque of a 9253. Yes it is fast but not to powerfull. If you have it in a fuse the increased side area is tough to overcome.

I have a 401/9253 in a blackshark fuse. I can try to piro in FFF and it will stall into sideways flight.

Bad thing is changing the servo will be a pain....so I just live with it.
