Very close to flying the new machine. Just a few loose ends to take care of. A few issues arose while building, but they were rectified by Heli-world to my satisfaction ( Thanks Payton )
Being a machinist and tinkerer, I made a few mods to the machine. I was dissapointed that the rear elevator cyclic link was not pull-pull as the forward links are, so I made a mount and special arm to add P-P to the rear bellcrank. It fits very well and there is plenty of clearance to the canopy.
I made a simple plate mount for the TR servo. This moves it forward and eliminates the poor pushrod geometry that the stock boom mount suffers from. There is a CG advantage to the move forward, important on the long-boom Max.
I also fly a Fury Extreme, this PredMax will be identically equipped. I look forward to wringing it out. I just attended Todd and Jasons heli school

TR mount

I had to modify the tail servo mount to prevent the metal pushrod end from hitting the screw. I like your way better. Did you slot the mount so it can be adjusted. My pushrod will be too short now to mount like yours. Please show a back side photo. Thanks.

Greg,
Glad to help bud!

Lovin the push/pull on elevator! Let us know how you like it after it flies. But, one thing you have already noticed on the Predator is that the machine's fundamental base design is WIDE OPEN to the pilots tweaking and refining. I like having a machine that gives you that option.

Keep us posted. I think once you get the feel your looking for you will be quite pleased.

I have a couple extra of the pull-pull setup, if anyone is interested. Contact me privately if you are interested.
Helitroll, here is a backside shot of the rear TR servo mount:

Thanks,

It's on Fire !

Just got my Canopy painted, Looks great. As you can see I'm partial to a good flame job.
Machine has YS 91, 9252 servos, GY 601, SB-16 muffler. 1700 Nicd.

I took the new machine to the certified scale at the post office, it weighs exactly 10 Lbs 1.5 Oz as it sits here. Thats 5 Oz lighter than my identically equipped Fury Ext, and the Fury has slightly lighter blades (1oz/pair-SAB). I am really happy with that, it should be a rocket with the YS.

I made some simple spacers to move the tail fin to the other side of the boom. Not really necessary but I am a detail nut. :

Greg,

Nice job with the tailfin. I was speaking to Jimmyhua about that same thing the other day, when we were looking over his Pred and I plan to put the tailfin of my Pred MAX (when it comes in) using spacers, in the same location.

Greg,
Nice paint job! I love it!

Got to love that weight!

Oh, the next batch of Preds will have the tail rotor case remolded with the fin on the otherside. So, if you have a crash and need to replace the case you can get the new one.

Down side is any boom strike pretty much garantees new servo gears and push rod. Where as boom mouted will usually just bend with the boom.

Headspeed?

What headspeed do you plan on turning with the YS and is it the 8.18 ratio?

Thanks, Kev. I was going to go to the field Friday, but after work I found I had forgotten my charger. And my starter had crapped out previously, and it was foggy. I figured 3 strikes I better stay on the ground.
I've only had 2 gentle flights on the Pred, was going to go out for more today if the weather clears up.
I have the governor set to run the same 1810 headspeed I use on my Fury. With the 8.18 ratio this seems to put the YS right at peak.

I have had some recent requests for the pull-pull setup. If anyone is interested contact me privatley.
I hated trying to stretch the canopy over the stock mounts, was afraid I'd crack it getting it off. So I made some new mounts that use a retaining screw. Check em out :
