Derrill,

That was a lucky one. Good save!

I have sent gyros back to CSM for repairs on several occasions. The service is excellent & the prices very reasonable. I would send an email first though, just in case it's some minor thing that can be fixed at home.

Do you have the PC interface? It would be interesting to see what it shows.

I made my own CSM Gyro Interface Cable that works great. The diagram on how to make it is on Fritz the Cat page.

Fritz The Cat Gryo Page

From the Left side menu Select, Avionics then Gyro/Misc. Scroll down the page to the CSM 540 Gryo and Select the CSM / Telebee Cable Diagram.

You can get the parts from Radio Shack.

You won't be able to get the CSM540 program to work with WinXP. It needs to talk directly to the LPT port which NT, 2000, and XP will not allow it to do. You will have to run it from Win95 or Win98 running in DOS mode, not a DOS window.

I have not tried it but you may be able to run it off a Windows 98 boot able floppy. It only takes up 252 Kbytes of space so it will fit on a floppy.

Guys,

I have XP on my machine & it even refuses to run the CSM programs after installing the patches provided by the company. I gave up & made a DOS boot disk with batch files to start each program. I now use all the CSM software by booting with this disk.

I spent hours trying to get it to behave (with help from CSM) & it took 2 minutes to make a boot disk & write the batch files.
