I just installed the 9253 into my Raptor this past weekend and I want to make sure that it is set up correctly. There will be no delay on the gyro and the gain should be around 30% correct. I have an 8103 and it has the gyro selection inside of it. Should it be set to around 65%. I know that when I get to field I will have to play around with it, but i want to make sure that I am fairly close. What are people running on theirs?

The fast set-up for JR is: 16-17mm servo arm dimension. ATV for channel 4(rudder) is at 150% for both. ATV for channel 5 (gear??, or whatever channel you select to switch between HH and Rate mode) should be at 80% for both. No other radio function is required for a nice simple set-up. I don't really know what you are saying exactly "gyro selection inside....etc" There should be no delay "O". You will select DS mode for use with the 9253 servo. Set the LIMIT, so you get maximum RIGHT rudder, without binding the pitch slider into the tail case output shaft bearing. Hope this helps. Ask questions if there is something that I could explain better.

So set the gain in the radio to 80%. I will check the limit on my gyro so that it doesn't bind.

not debating but use 150% rudder ATV
w/ caution. That is going to give you
a VERY high piro rate.

I'd suggest starting off w/ something more
'reasonable' like 100-110 and seeing
what that feels like.

That's true Z, I use 150% with EXPO. The 100% would be a better place to start.

Hi Al
just wondering what level of expo you guys run on your 401/9253 ?

I tried 50% and 0% on my V50 and couldn't decide what was best .. only a very quick trial.

Guess I'm too used to JR gyro's .. you know ..the ones where you get to kinda get to steer the tail quite a lot

I'm at 50% I believe. Makes it soft around center, yet gives you the full monty when needed. Running EXPO on the rudder also allows for a more defined split between the pitch/throttle axis and rudder. So when moving the pitch quickly, the unwanted rudder inputs are smaller.
