Hello All-

I am looking for a little help here. I have been flying my Sceadu 50 around and so far it has been running great until recently. The problem I am having is that the OS 50 is starting to cut off in mid flight. Since I am a beginner, this has proven to be very nerve racking. The engine tends to cut out around mid throttle, yet runs fine at 3/4 to full throttle. Around mid throttle, the engine sounds like it is "loading up (gurgling)" and does not make the whine noise it usually makes at 3/4 to full throttle. If I keep it at this setting, the engine will almost always cut off. I am running cool power 15%, an OS #3 plug, and have my high end needle set out 1 turn from closed. I plan to replace the fuel filter next time out, however I am a little hesitant to take it back up since I an not that great at autos yet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else to check? Thanks in advance for your help.

Make the idle mixture a lot richer. That should smooth things out in the mid range.

Usually the gurgling sound means something is a little too rich...

Other signs

Temp is fine. I can touch the motor without frying my finger. I am also getting good smoke from the pipe. I have played with the pitch and throttle adjustments on my radio, but I still cannot get the engine to run right in mid throttle.

I have also done the pinch test when shutting the engine off, and the engine will maintain a steady rpm right until it shuts off. Before it shuts off, the rpm will rise just a little.

my os 50's on my 2 voyager 50's prefer the ff. throt graph points:

low:0
mid:55-60%
high:100%

and for stunt 1 I set low to 40%

If i set the mid to 50% , I also get a gurgle / hesitant response from the motoraround mid.

try an os #8 , most heli pilots use the #8 ,
with 15% nitro , coolpower , my main is set one and 5 to 8 clicks open.Have done probably 200 flights + with os 50's never died on me in mid flight , but had an OS61 die twice at 3 meters , the problem was the plugs. The norm is that once the engine is running and if the plug goes faulty , your engine will not die , but on the next start u will notice it, but I had the opposite experiences , plug goes engine dies !!!!!
