Hello,

I have a Logo 500 with beastX and R6008HS and Svox servos. I bought a WR Hercules BEC to power the RX and a Hyperion 2s2500 LiPo only to find the WR instructions say a minimum 3s is required.

I have bought 2 of these batteries from Ready heli because they are listed in the RX battery section.

I was using the BEC directly off the 5s main motor battery but had glitches (JR PCM9X 36MHz) and did not have the wire length to fit ferrite rings. To get around this issue I decided to use a seperate pack for the RX and bought a new Futaba 8FG.

What should I do ?

Use it off the main pack, with a 2.4ghz you dont get glitches nor do you need the ferrite ring.

Hi,

Thanks I might have to do this. I had the idea this was the case with 2.4 but also thought the interference would still be there just with less danger to a 2.4 radio.

I wanted to avoid the soldering job with the ESC as I find attaching an ESC wire and BEC wire to a deans quite difficult.

As for the two new batteries, I feel more than a bit silly.

Would a Hyperion CX G3 2s2500 LiPo work in a Futaba 8FG ?

Thanks.

Hello all,

I decided to use the main pack and set the machine up with the Futaba 8FG instead of my original PCM9Xv2 (36MHz). I re-set the BeastX to suit the new radio and programed the TX.

Then it was time to test fly.

I did a range check and it seemed fine using the 8FG range check program and it checked out fine except the tail servo did not move but the swash was perfect.

I then flew the machine in the hover and found with the BeastX and 2.4GHz it flew the smoothest it has ever been. I did more hovering and manouvering and all was fine.

I then flew some orbits at a range of about 10-40 metres and all seemed good until on about the 8th orbit coming around towards myself the radio seemed to lock out. The beastX seemed to fly a perfect low speed trajectory by itself into the ground.

Because of the stabilty as it flew along into the ground it suggests to me the BeastX and servos were all working.

This is exactly what happened to the heli on 36MHz after fitting the BeastX and WR Hercules exept I regained control. The only common threads would be the BeastX and the Hercules BEC to which all flights with these both 36MHz and 2.4 have suffered from this problem.

I have just speant a fortune on this machine including the new radio and I think after 15 years of fairly problem free (until now glitch free) flying I have finally had enough.

Any ideas ?

Static hit seems like a possible cause for sure, is the boom grounded?

No it's not grounded.

I would be suprised at the static theory as I have been flying this for two years trouble free with no glitches or static on 36MHz up to 100+ metres away.

This trouble started with the instalation of the WR Hercules and the BeastX.

I would be very suprised if it had mysteriously developed a tendency to built up static. It also has the anti static tail pulley.

Western Robotics has a warning on not using the BEC with a 72MHz systems because that switching BEC makes a lot of electrical noise. You think that could be your problem?

Yes it is the lead suspect.

I am concerned that it would not work with 36MHz or Futaba FASST 2.4GHz.

If this is the case what does it work with.

It should work with any 2.4GHz system.

It's really put the wind up me as I have just ordered a new Funkey Jetranger for it and now I don't trust the heli.

What to do, what to do? Who knows

Bec does NOT interfere with 2.4ghz, period.

You have not have a glitch with the old gear yes, but now you have other electronics there.

If the boom is not grounded you have static discharge, just your old electronics did not pick it up.

That doesnt say the new wont.
