"I used automotive gasket material."

I don't know about the Competitor, but the clutch liner in the Cricket was exactly that-automotive gasket material.

I used to cut it into strips for the kits.

I got some liner from a buddy that was from a raptor 50. They seem too thin, about 1mm think. I think I would would have to glue two of them together and then shave it down. You'll have to forgive me, I have been an electric guy since I got back into the hobby. The last clutch liner I replaced was on my old cricket in the 80s, and the guy at the hobby store gave me what looked like gasket material, and told me to scrape it down till the fly wheel spun freely. Is there a more precise clearance limit or is that easy?

I shoot for about .012" to .015" total (both sides) clearance

That I can do. Most of the time I hear of the electrical tape method, but never any measurements. Thanks.
