Hey Dennis, this vid is for you man. I know you had a rough year and I had a tough year as well being in the Home Improvement/ construction field in this economy. But we gatta keep moving forward even if some want to kick you when you are down.

My best to you and your family and May God bless you in the New Year !
Thanks Doug. Preciate that. The same to you and yours.

But, please understand, I am not down. I am over it for some time, retired and enjoying my new found skill of being a lazy old sucker with a keyboard, trying hard to show outhouse the way to being a kind, gentle, caring, self sustaining, and productive adult. After all, isn't that an adults responsibility to show out little ones the way to a good adult life?

I can no longer fly helis because of a carpel tunnel thing going on with my left hand. Its nasty. But, no pain involved. It cannot be fixed. I am stuck with it. But, thats OK. Things could be worse. I still love the hobby, and the people involved with it. Well, for the most part anyway.

BTW: I do love those Celtic women. They are among the many true gifts from God.

so far you talk allot about being a tough guy but have not shown 1 bit of proof for creation, [since there in none]. And you dont know enough about science to know what reality is.

you go ahead and pick on science when you know nothing about it.
Whoa little feller. Slow down and git off your high horsey. You are getting a bit hot under the collar again. Pretty soon, those little tiny pinkies of yours are going to melt right into the key board.

The only one picking on science here is you with your bad conduct here, your bad attitude, your hate and disrespect for others opinions. With that, you are picking on science by making it look bad with your conduct at the same time as you think you are defending it.

Did you know that HATE is the single most harmful ignorance known to man? Especially for those into the hate sh&t.

That hardly stacks up to the ignorance you accuse many others of having.

I don't think so. I think he really buys into some of the crap he preaches here. Same as any looser Evangelical passing the bucket around.

But, he is on a vary hard road to hate and intolerance.

I am doing my part in helping the little guy to understand that cheerfully, with patience, fortitude, generosity, good character, understanding, and of good nature, of course. Thats just me.

The little tird.

"The Christian god can be easily pictured as virtually the same as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of the people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites." - Thomas Jefferson, from a letter to his nephew Peter Carr

That letter from Jefferson to his nephew exists GimbleNuts has strangely never surfaced GimbleNuts:

I found and checked about 20 different websites that have the quote, but none of them states when Jefferson wrote the letter (year, month, and day) to his nephew Peter Carr, or where he was at the time that he wrote it. The more information you have like that, the easier it is to find an official source for the quote. I checked the Snopes urban legend website, and they have nothing on this particular quote. Also none of the 20 websites with this quote said anything about its possibly being bogus.

Thomas Jefferson wrote about 18,000 letters during his lifetime, beginning around 1760 when he was 17 and ending in 1826, when he died at the age of about 83. I have no idea how many of the 18,000 have been preserved, let alone made available on the Internet. The University of Virginia, which Jefferson founded and which has more incentive than any other academic institution to find and preserve his original works, has about 1,700 documents of his with parts of their text available online. I found about 40 letters on their website that he wrote to Peter Carr during the 66 years when he was actively writing letters. This website does not have the entire letters in searchable form online. They have another data base of 9,000 online quotes from these 1,700 writings of Jefferson, and I checked this data base for the word “monster”. Only five such quotes were found, and none of them was from any letter to Peter Carr.

I found a Dutch website with the complete text from a large number of Jefferson’s letters, but they only had three that he wrote to Peter Carr. I searched all three of these for the word “monster”. Again no hit.

The bottom line is that I have no proof that the quote is genuine

http://www.hwarmstrong.com/fairchild_monster.htm

The only link I could find on a letter from Jefferson to his nephew is this one:

http://www.stephenjaygould.org/ctrl/jefferson_carr.html

But, the words you claim that are there, are not in that one. Apparently, Jefferson wrote many, many letters in his lifetime.

Maybe there is a letter to his nephew with those words that you claim are in it. But, it has not surfaced. Unless you can provide a link to it.

I doubt you will do that as you never do. Once you are asked for evidence of your claims, you just go south (nasty attitude) on anyone who asks. Thats been your history. You will probably do so in your next post. Have fun.

Deet, no one here with a rational mind assigns any credence whatsoever to your stupid, insane posts regarding concepts you clearly are clueless about.

As for that quote, whether or not it can be irrefutably attributed to Jefferson may still be up for debate, but MANY other fully verifiable quotes support his disdain for religion in general, and christianity in particular -- like these:

"I may grow rich by art I am compelled to follow, I may recover health by medicines I am compelled to take against my own judgment, but I cannot be saved by a worship I disbelieve & abhor." - Thomas Jefferson

"Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787

"I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Francis Hopkinson, March 13, 1789

"History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance of which their civil as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves, for their own purposes." - Thomas Jefferson to Alexander von Humboldt, Dec. 6, 1813

Pound damp sand, you half-baked, empty-headed, gravy-sucking moron.

Happy New Year to all

I was looking for some info on why so many more Americans believe in a God compared to the rest of the developed world, when I came across this:
Atheism is a belief in itself. You choose to believe in the idea of believing in nothing at all. Atheism is the laziest form of a religion because it requires no explanation. No matter what the question or issue at hand, all an atheist has to say is, "well because". "How does life come about?" "Well it just does." "There is no god, everything is just totally random and spontaneous and that's what we believe." The biggest thing that atheism leaves out is a beginning. Atheists avoid talking about how life got started because they don't believe in any higher power. Evolution, there was the first monkey. Big bang, that was that first carbon atom. Something or someone had to create something that started it all.

Here is some info sourced from NASA Ames Research Center:
Most of life's history involved the biochemical evolution of single-celled microorganisms. We find individual fossilized microbes in rocks 3.5 billion years old, yet we can conclusively identify multicelled fossils only in rocks younger than 1 billion years.
Many important events mark the interval between 1 billion and 3 billion years ago. Smaller strips of land dominated by volcanoes were joined by larger, more stable continents. Life learned how to extract oxygen from water, and living things populated the newly expanded continental shelf regions.

Finally, between 1 billion and 2 billion years ago, eukaryotic cells (those with a nucleus) developed, with complex systems of organelles and membranes. These organisms then began to experiment with multicelled body structures.
The evolution of the plants and animals most familiar to us occurred only in the last 550 million years. Marine invertebrates (such as shell-making ammonites) appeared first, then fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals and humanity.

Question for those who believe in creation / intelligent design: Taking the above into account, at what point in time, do you think that God created or designed, mankind? Just give it your best guess

Question for the creationists: Taking the above into account, at what point in time, do you think that God created mankind?
Just speaking for myself Dusty, I have no idea that God created mankind. It cannot be proven. That said, its obvious I am not a creationist as some would think of me as a Christian. But, I do have faith in intelligent design. I cannot prove that, nor will I be so dumb as to attempt to. Its just a faith that its likely the way it was. Thats just me. I am not a scientist, nor would I ever claim to be.

Nor can others prove beyond doubt that mankind was created by evolution. They can string together a series of events throughout earth's history and make their own conclusion. Its still a conclusion and not conclusive proof. They, nor anyone, can prove the actual beginning of man.

Never have, never will.

No body knows.

Off to get bacon & eggs.

Yummy.
