The proposal has been submitted to AMA for forwarding to the appropriate committee/s for review and approval.

Formal/final action probably won't occur for another few weeks.

However, if you are going to fly AMA Class 3, then I recommend that you practice the working draft posted here.

The manuevers for FAI are not affected by this proposal.

Question....if approved, when the maneuvers go into effect immediately (thus these manuvers for the 2011 Nats) or would they come into effect for 2012??

This is great news. I just changed mine (and my team's) work schedule so I can now practice after work

Man, it's great to be the boss, sometimes

I hope not as much F3C but from ALL the AMA classes. The dual schedule of F3C is really a PIA.

May be no FAI at this years NATS. Everyone is going to Italy except Dan & Cliff Hiatt I think. Tried to get ahold of Craig last night.

I had started a thread about what heli to use for F3C. I got so many responses, PM's with offers to help and advice. You guys make a new person feel welcome and so it does tend to get one excited. 3D is nice (even if I can only fly 1 1/4D ) but I would like to try my hand at the percision stuff.

I'm curious if anyone spoke with Greg Hahn or anyone else at the AMA about this? In the past they have taken a dim view of Mid-Cycle (or in this case early cycle) rules changes like this one.

Years ago I submitted a URP to start Intermediate in IMAC. it was denied out of hand since it did not meet the criteria of an URGENT rule proposal. It took 2 more full cycles to get Intermediate in the rules. And that was just one class!!

Hopefully things are different now. From what I have read in this thread these are promising changes. I am getting back in to helis and I am only interested in precision flying. 3D does not do much for me, planks or helis.

All the background footwork was done with AMA and the contest board to allow reasonable assurance that the new rules would be accepted mid cycle. I am not immediately aware of anyone on the contest board, myself included, that is on record with plans to vote against the proposal. AMA, Greg included, and Craig Bradley have been supportive of the endeavor in hopes of preserving the momentum for contest flying that was gained last season.

Cool. I had a very bad experience as I said. Of course that was with a different technical director. My URP never got as far as the contest board!! Good to know that they have become more flexible!! Now all I need are some contest within 2,000 miles of southern California!!

What country is that? LOL

It would be nice if there was enough interest out there to have a contest in, say Las Vegas. The reason, is that it is always vey afordable to fly in and out of. and may be closer to other groups that fly.

In the end whichever club decides to host one, that is where it will be.

Do you know the incentive IRCHA is offering for those clubs hosting an AMA precision contest for the 1st time?

Santiago

EDIT
Scratch that, Now I dont know if that was and idea floating around or something that will happen this year.

I agree, Las Vegas would be a great venue. I've run a number of aerobatics contest there, at both the North Las Vegas field and Bennett Field. Best thing about Vegas is even if the wind or heat gets to you there are always PLENTY of things to do!!

Wait, you do have an F3C fleet almost ready to go
