PCM will do !!

so there I was out zigging around doing circuits with my 60 size Shoe String, we fly at an old Airport that is closed now, it's Strip is over 1800ft long and I was standing a little more than half way down it's length, maybe about 60 or 65% of it's length, and my plane was way out past the end of the strip in a steep Bank Turn, man she must have been a 1000ft out,
well it just hit me to look down at my 9303, and there it was "NO Antenna", well I finished the Turn and pointed the nose up and started to pull the Antenna out while the guys behind me were hooting and yelling and so I yell out "JR Baby, that's what I'm talking about", well at that point the guy went quiet LOL

so I ask, was that Luck or was that JR,,,,,,,, that was JR man !!

LOL yes yes I still using an Antenna,,,,,, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, JR Baby, that's what I'm talking about !!!

PS,, I have to add, I did smash my plane on the next flight do to a stall LOL

Thats good to get so far out with the antenna down.

I dont think glitches with PCM are a common thing, but they do happen every once in a while, seems though 2.4 is fullproof I dont know anyone who`s ever had a single issue, ever.

I use a UHF tx module (FHSS on 433-444mhz), made for long range, but just bulletproof on short range. Also, even the rx are digital they don't brown out. When power dip below 3.8V they come back instantly.

And yes, there's a downside, it eat up batteries

I have the Aurora 9, and so far (fingers crossed), no brown or black outs. I fly on a naval air station, so I figure, if not shot down by our high powered stuff yet, hopefully not ever!

Hey the Wasp,

Man thats what I use, JR PCM Radios!!!! People can say what they want, JR are exellent radios!

In my field everybody use Futaba and they see me like a extrange because I use JR. I have seen a lot of crashes with Futaba radios loosing signals, getting glitches and inclusive with 2.4 radios! My JR 783 PCM work awesome! I will keep flying with my PCM

In the club i belong to at our flying field we have had several(1/2 a dozen or so) lock outs which caused crashes every time since we all started flying 2.4 JR/Spectrum radio gear. All crashes have had a 6000 series receiver in them so no more of those for me i have to say.

I did this once before (with my heli) some 4 or 5 years ago with my 8103 on PPM, but it was only out about 3 or 400 ft (about the length of a football field),,

I went to PCM 3 years ago, before that I had only 3 glitches in 6 years with PPM and those glitches were do to loose screws (tighten them up and back to the flying),, the only complaint I have about PPM and PCM is that long antenna LOL

For the most part that dont even bother me except in my scale ships. I will use fm untill I cant see or physically cant fly anymore.

Put the wrong spark plug in and see what happens...
To 2.4. An unresisted plug can cause signal break even with the 2.4,I had it happen.

Still flying with my 9chp super on pcm. (Probably going to put a curse on me now) I have yet to have a glitch that I know of. Meanwhile I have had 2 crashes due to lockouts on a dx system.
I prefer and will stick with my 9c even though it has it's own latency issues with eccpm.

I do see a limited future for 72 mhz systems. Seems they are not welcome/allowed at certain fields. Luckily I don't ever visit them.

And that is the mindset of typical fools to not allow them.
If someone told me I cant use my 14mz at the field no more because it isnt 2.4 I would tell them to go _ _ _ _ them selves.

I use JR 9303 PCM and have yet to see any reason to switch to 2.4 i have never had a glitch on pcm. now that 2.4 came out all the good JR RX's are going real cheap on ebay i have had a few glitches with ppm, RX was sitting right on top of aluminum channel in hobbico sturdy birdy II, my fualt. just momentary, not enough to cause a crash. i dont see why you would want to leave a band dedicated to our hobby to use 2.4 that is clutered with anything anyone wants to put on it. i would like my RX to report voltage back to the TX but i dont see that as a good reason to switch.

PCM will just mask a problem until you get a lockout. Happened to me so I went 2.4. If you put a substandard power source in your heli, you will have brownouts/lockouts every time..........Ron
