Maximum voltage is 3.6 volts per cell, working voltage is 3.0-3.3 volts. If you get a 555 chip for the 109 then you can charge the LiFe.

Are you using a LiFe charger? 8.4 volts is very high. If it stays at 6.6 you should be good, just don't discharge them less than 2.8 volts per cell.

With LiFe's you need to know how many milliamps you heli draws each flight.

Then you need to know the condition of the battery. They will lose capacity over time. And then stop flying after "X" number of flights.

There is no way to voltage test them.

heli4ever, Thanks for info I feel better now ,the only thing is I like to see voltage on tester after flights and it gives me an idea on when I need to charge question is will pack drop or just die like an A123 ??

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Sorry to disagree but the extensive research I've done indicates that you CANNOT and SHOULD NOT use any type of a voltage reading (loaded or not) to determine if you're good to go for one more flight !!

You need to use a charger that can tell you how much capacity you've used over a given number of flights..... for example, start out with a couple of flights, recharge and see how much capacity you've depleted from the battery or in other words, how much you've put back in to determine a "pattern"

Once you've done that for a few outings, only then can you determine a "history" for your battery so that you can tell how many flights you can safely take before having to recharge......

The beauty of these batteries is that you can fully charge a totally depleted battery in about 15 minutes !! (assuming you have the charger and power supply to charge at 10 amps....

Been there, done that and old enough to know better.....

It was an understanding between us that I do have knowledge on batteries so I think there was no depth in info . I do understand that a load test is not the best way but at least I have an idea from first flight to the next to start a pattern . I just don't want that one more flight to get me by suprise . Thanks for all the info on this new type pack , Jeff P
