I pulled out the original g23 engine and replaced it with a g231 and now the shroud doesn't fit because the head is a little bigger. Anybody know what I need? Is it the spectra shroud or ?. Bill

I don't understand what the two pics have to do with a shroud? You might want to post a pic of the motor sitting in the frame with the shroud somewhat in place so we can get an idea of what your talking about. Just a tip.

Thanks

If it's the stock plastic shrould, it might have been melted some, and closed the gap, if it's the epoxy glass shrould, it should fit, to the best of my knowledge.. Which fan shrould do you have??

The pic's are from a earlier post, probley still in his clipboard, XGM/VGM

yea i have to get those pics out of here, the shroud plate that bolts to the crankcase, one of the mounting tabs hits the corner of the head , i can get the shroud on but the cut out for the plug doesnt hug the spark plug hole and i have to spread the shroud a bit . the head is alittle bigger on the g231 and makes me think that their should be a larger shroud and plate when upgrading to a larger motor, So it should fit? i bought the machine used and came with 3 shrouds one of them seems to be slighter bigger and a better fit maybe this is the epoxy one,it is textured not smooth like the other 2 is this the epoxy shroud? Then i still have the problem of the mounting plate tab hitting the head, if i clip off that one tab it will work, or put a 1/8 shim between the crankcase and shroud plate, i have the instructions for this machine and their are no shimms so i don`t know !

You can tell by feeling the shroud, Sounds like the textured one might be the plastic, if so,, DO NOT USE!!! It will melt, there are some pic's in my gallery that show how I used to block of the open areas around the shroud and engine, but I haven't done that in years, I have converted several older style 230 to the 231, and was just a swap out, as far and the fan, shroud mounting plate, and the shroud, Make sure which shroud you have, You might want to look at getting the Bergen gas fan shroud, as I think it is a little bigger, but not positive about that, Take some pic's ,, XGM/VGM

here are some pics , notice the shroud plate does not fit the g231 only the g23 . i had 2 plates i cut the tab off one and it fit .But it`s not right . Of the three shrouds one was a little bigger than the others but i think they are all plastic, can anybody point me in the right direction to the correct parts for the shroud plate, fan shroud for a g231 to fit a Min Air 1005.

This is what you will want if you have the plastic fan too!!

http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/me...t_Code=MA105-51

This is what you will want if you all ready have a metal fan, but since you have all three plastic shrouds, I would bet you have the plastic fan too!! Good luck, and if there is any thing I can do to help, Just let me know.. XGM/VGM

I just looked at the links I posted, Ron's show out of stock, but I would call them, Maybe he can find some somewhere,, XGM/VGM

Use the spectra g shroud and base plate, it covers more of the cylinder, and you can put a redirect on it also, you might have to move the the front engine support forward a little. And cut off the screw surport by the carb, but it's well worth it, If you need help with it, I will pm you pictures
