I've been running the thread over on helifreak but figured i'd drop it here too. Been building these 26cc gassers for the last few months and am seeing some decent progress. We have a few other aside from what's pictured either flying or very close to it.

v1 is a rear facing motor, electric fan, FBL, flies 700 and 800mm mains. Came in at 12 lbs RTF and is a beast.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGU9x4G3ir4

v2 build 1 is a zenoah 26 puh again, but instead is facing forward and is using the century radikal 20 fan/shroud system. It isn't a direct bolt on, but pretty close

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjsPNkG25ao

Then there is v2 build 2. it is a CRRC 26 moddified to spin a clutch. In this one i also gave it a moveable starter block so it can swing different ratios. IT is going to try and fly on 600's. weighs in at 9 lbs 4oz rtf. I think this is the one. Will most likely take V1 and tear her down into a new frame with forward facing, moveable bearing block but predator fan/shroud

If you guys wanna plow through hundreds of pics, there all here

http://blizzarddesigns.com/Cali/Boa.../XGv2/xgv2.html
http://blizzarddesigns.com/Cali/Boa.../XGv2/xgv3.html

be careful about copying any of the ideas without asking if they worked or not, some pictured worked, some didn't.

The part that makes it possible.

to get the stock p50 hub on the zenoah just takes one of these

So are any of these Pantera gassers feasable for the rest of us yet? It was announced months and months ago and I'm ready to fly one but am not willing to be an experimenter.

Hi Marty, I am pretty much on final with this thing. Last week had it out at Blythe CA, it was 106 and i flew her for 25 minutes, came down at 232 degrees max. Am running the 710 on the fbl and stretch at 6.2 :1 and get 1650 and 1750 at the head. I had video of it in the desert, but wife went into labor while was there and am hoping i left the camera at the house there cause it isn't home with me now. This is a video of it right before i went

Watch at YouTube

Right now it takes $175 of other manufacturer parts and needs one more piece the other offers for $60 to stabilize the frame to the motor to keep the pinion to main mesh right. It needs the engine mount and a starter block so you can move the motor to change the gearing.

The weird throttle at 2 min in is me learning the curtis ATG gov, weird... this has the TotalG

I would build one, but that is up to you if your ready or not. If you want the list of parts, let me know. It is all saw, drill or bolt.

I almost forgot, it also needs the radikal20 fan shroud and the radikal 20 shroud plate. The plate took some modding to stretch on, but is worth it. They offer a stiffening bracket for the predator that i haven't tried, but can see it needs to take constant beating like tic tocs, or lots of collective. I lost a little of the built in stiffness loosing the stock fan shroud area.

shroud HI6020G
shroud plate HW6118H
stiffner CN2300

The advantage here is it is affordable to crash and it flies great. IF i was running 600's, i'd look into the 15 tooth pinion.

The mount and starter block you'd have to make or have made. My dad kicks em out for $100 the set shipped. It is all hand made one at a time, but is professional looking.

We also built one of these with the crrc pro26 that i like cause RTF came in under 10 lbs instead of 12 with the zenoah. Problem is a pain to start with the shaft starter. Takes a 8s starter, pops parts in the OWB, etc. I am so pissed at it it hasn't flown ,but here it is. IT has the predator clutch starter parts now. I had replaced the ignition sensor and it didn't need it. Now the motor is out of timing and i need to tear it down to reset that to 28 degrees. It is not a stretched pantera and has the stock head with 6.2:1 ratio

Sounds like you are getting there but probably not quite ready for the masses. I'm not in the mood to experiment or prototype so I'll keep reading your progress. I have the carbon gasser kit for the Raptor 90 that came with a used R90 lot I purchased. Even it is not a brain dead simple build.

I expect to have the parts to build one in JB's paws shortly, 6 of these are flying, 3 are here but the other three are out in capable hands, one is Kens hanger. By this time next year, i hope to be able to buy one bag of parts from audacity to build this thing. 2 of them are g231, 2 are g26, 1 is g20 and the other is crrc 26. For those not aware, it is a $200 26cc gasser motor. That is the setup Papa Bear wants in these

The last of what parts are needed to get what affect are chosen, now we just gotta get our own version of it going. Now it has headspeed, now it stays cool with mechanical fan, inside a pantera frame. When i came around, that was the two missing links to getting this thing up. This is and was Kens brainchild, i just came along with some money to try different parts to make it happen, and happening it is.

I've never seen the raptor conversion, cool.Is it a zenoah PUH build or a zenoah RC build

How bizzare, I guess I'm not allowed to tell you what kit I have. I did not edit my previous post. Someone removed the company name.

Is it the ****? Does it use the raptor clutch? if so, hows that goin for ya. We have larger clutches on panteras and they didn't hang. This thick gasser clutch is where it's at

Guess i had it right, lol have you ran it? do you have his pipe?

No, no. It's in a bag in the cabinet. I haven't been motivated to turn a perfectly good Raptor 3D into a pig of a gasser but turning a $100 Pantera into one might be fun....when they get to the point of being a tried and true retro kit.
I had forgotten about having that kit though so I may start thinking about it since I have a couple used Raptor 60's laying around I bought for spares of spares.

Yikes! I just watched a couple videos on YouTube of the **** Zenoah G231 conversion in a Raptor 90. No way! It is grossly underpowered. I hope the Pantera does a lot better on gas. I look forward to some videos.

I've heard the 23 is somewhat gutless. I wonder why it won't take a 26, there the same thing, different piston/cyl. Most helibug guys like the 27 on the 600, 29 to 30 on the 700

Finally getting past adding another little one to the familly, time to get back to "project gasser"

Took it out to the desert the other day and finally gave her a workout. some short inverted flight, full power loops, etc. This one is going into a 700 size MD500e from RC aerodyne. But wanted to play with the pod and boom for a while till then while i get the fuse scaled out

Why do they keep editing the name of the company who's kit we are refering to? I'm not promoting their product, just discussing the kit as it relates to converting a heli to gas power.

Marty, that guy used to be a well known internet thief who ripped off hundereds of guys by selling cheap, crappy imitation parts on ebay like blades, carbon parts ect... He and Mark {the owner of this web site} do not get along very well, and those of us who know who he is agree with Mark.

If you want a decent gasser conversion, there is a guy in Texas that offers one, look in the gasser forum here, there is all kinds of topics about his helis. Its called a "helibug" conversion.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

The only reason I brought up the guy I think we are both talking about is because the conversion kit came with a Raptor 60 I bought. It was a freebie. I'm watching the Pantera gasser to see how it works out.
