Looking at getting Velocity 50 CF pro. Was wondering are the frames carbon fiber? And what upgrades are needed. I have looked but i'm not sure what is needed. Thanks

when I built mine (2 of them), I did a couple of things to make let me keep my sanity when it comes time to un-rekit (rebuild) it.

1. I used Nordlock 2 piece lockwashers on either the left side only (or even on both sides) (in lieu of the fancy washers that come w/ the kit) so that none of the SHCS frame screws require ANY Loctite. This is a major time & energy saver although the Nordlocks are a tad expensive.
I also use Belleville domed lockwashers for many of the smaller (2.5 and 2mm) screws where I can but mostly it's the 3mm Nordlock frame screws

2. I had a couple of those CF servo mounting plates as extra in my junk parts box. I used them between the frame and the boom supports so that a crash would *probably not* break the CF frames in the back.

3. use plastic tie wraps to attach the landing gear to the frames so they pop off in a crash.

I don't recommend using tie straps to mount the landing gear. The lower frame plate mounts between the side frames and landing gear, if not bolted it will cause the frame to flex and have alignment problems with the clutch and bell.

I would disagree. I think the spacers, esp between the metal landing gear flanges and the overall number of spacers and engine mount are enough. I doubt the landing gear cross members are adding much if anything.
