Hi there, got myself a 2.4ghz T7c a while back and didnt think much of the RX that came with it, only having 7 slots. I would like to be able to plug in a Jewel Generator...and though this could be shared through a Y lead I would like its own dedicated slot on the RX so should either lead fail I still have power to the RX.

I have checked out the FASST site and checked the charts for compatability with other RX's but nothing is looking good. Just wonder if I have to bite the bullet and get the 10C instead. Dont really want to as the 7c has all I need otherwise.

Any ideas?

The 7c can only use the 7ch and lower receivers. There is something different in how the 8 and above receivers and the 7 and below get their signal. If you want something with more channels you'll have to get a different radio. If you decide to go that way, I'd look at the 8fg.

If you are posting here you are probably using it in a heli. If you have a heli you probably are running a gyro. The signal plug from the gyro to the rx only has one wire (the signal wire) in it. The two power lead slots in the plug are empty. Simply gently pull the two power leads from the battery plug out of the plastic plug. To do this gently lift the little plastic arm that is holding the wires in place up and they will slide out. Now take those two power wires and slide them into the jack that has the one signal wire(the gyro signal plug). They will snap into place and be as secure as a new plug. Just make sure you put the pos and neg in the right sides. Since the rx uses a common power bus to all the the inputs it does not matter which jack the battery wires are plugged into. By piggy backing the battery wires onto the gyro signal plug you now can use all seven channels for servos or other devices.

Gotcha! I was wondering this the other day about sharing slot 5 with the Generator, Will take a look at this.

Seems a shame though, as my older FM T7C can use a 14 channel RX, which I have on another heli at the moment. Just wonder if Futaba thought this through when developing the 2.4ghz system.

Ok thanks, I would like the 8 channel or even the 10 but would rather get the most out of the sets I have first.

While I don't know the details of the differences underneath, there are two types of FASST, one for up to 7 channel as Eury stated, and "multi channel" for 8 and 14. The 8 and 14 system is not simply more channels, but also higher resolution (at 2048 compared to 7ch's 1024), plus you get real failsafe on all channels (throttle only on 7ch).

Well looking at Futabas compatability chart I would say that the RX's with more slots are for the higher end radios...like the 8c and so on.

Just a real shame that there isnt a spare channel, I use the same type of RX on my little Trex 450 and would love to slave a micro camera into a spare channel...but cant as channel 5 for example is already taken up with the gyro gain.

I will explore the post before about sharing the channel 5 slot...like mentioned before I could use a Y lead but would rather the spare channel option.

BTW the Jewel is a neat little unit, just good to have that spare power...well it becomes the primary source once the engine is started.
