I've been forced to take a break from this build because I had knee replacement surgery on December 6th. I also have a stay at home wife who is making sure I don't sneak downstairs and work on it before the doctor clears me.

I don't have much left to do and I should be back at it in another 2 weeks.

I keep finding extra bits to make. Just finished making a working cargo hook(My AH-1 is a civilianised version owned by the Dept of Agric)to find I do not think I'll have room to fit the servo in. I was also going to used the 3G system, but eventually got a BeastX unit instead. Only just setup the controls and, after many months, glued the boom on.
Work and the weather have not helped.

Well I'm back to work on the Cobra for a while. Today I'm putting plywood behind the lip around the tower nose piece. Once I get this screwed in place I'll fit the canopy. I'm also drilling holes and gluing nuts inside the tail boom so I can use scale counter-sunk screws to attach the rear boom cap piece.

You need to sand the inside of the fuse, then wipe it with acetone before bonding the wood in. Works like a charm.

All helis and planes have an expiration date stamped on them...you only find it after you crash!!

Nice job so far JM4014. I was looking at the canopy and hate the way they want you to attach it. The canopy and the body are very deformed. Even in the instructions the finished fit looks terrible.

I desided to epoxy a half inch wide strip of fiber glass to the inside of the canopy holding it 3 mm from the bottom. Then I laminated a second 3/4 inch piece on top of it holding it flush the the bottom of the canopy. Next I epoxied a 1/16 thick 3/4 inch wide piece of plywood over everything. It created a slot for the flange on the body to fit into while giving me great side rails for the cockpit installation. When I put it on the helicopter I think I got the best fit I've seen so far on this RC Aerodyne kit.

JM4014, I've had my home robbed so I know how you feel and all I can say is that it's just stuff. It hurts but you'll be OK.

Thank you everybody for your comments. I'm having fun now. I just installed the wings and wing lights. I'm working on the top red flashing light now. I can't wait to start painting.

Most of my flying is at Cedar Creek Park at the South end of the Wantagh Parkway. I'm there every Saturday and Sunday morning from 7:00 am until 10:00 am. It is Helicopter only time until 9:30 am everyday.

Besides that I belong to and fly with the Edgewood Flyers and the Babylon R/C Flyers.
