I'm going to be buying a larger electric heli. Right now it is between the Gaui 425 base model and the HK 500 GT. Both are similarly priced, but one is (mostly) metal and one is all plastic.

I was wondering if the Gaui 425 flight performance outweighs it being all plastic.

I really would like an all metal heli, but flight performance is the major factor in which one to go with.

I don't have much money to spend, so I'd really like to stick with one of these helis.

I have been looking at all the driffrent 500s and someone pointed out the Gaui, i dun downloaded the build videos and watched them and looked up parts online yes its plastic but its plastic is better then the HK helis GT versions I really belive I have read way to many bad things bout them flying apart.

get a Gaui and if your feeling nice send me one too LOL

I had a Gaui 550. Its basicly the same heli, gaui just threw a shorter boom on the 550 EP versio. It was my second heli. It flew well. I does have some draw backs that forced its retirment. Its got a complex gear train. In even a minor crash if you dont get to the TH fast enough you are going to strip one or more of those gears. I also had a hard time finding parts in stock now and again.
I'm also just finishing up a HK 500. So far it doesnt seem to be a bad kit. The plastic on the baseplate and battery tray seem a little flimsy and I may replace them. I'll know how it flys in the next couple of days

I just got my 1st couple of hops in on the HK 500 GT. My 1st impressions are good. It flew well. It tracks well , flips and roll where a little slow but incresing the AL / EL throws got a them a little snap.
I'm using the BL500L and it seems to have plenty of power.

I have 550 and really love it.
flies great and the 425 seems to be getting more popular.
you can change the 425 to a550 by simply changin belt boom and blades if you want to.

i also have trex450 but the gaui is really easy to fly.
