Just wondering how difficult it would be to breakup 12s packs making them into two 6s packs? Is there any special soldering technique (silver or otherwise) and wattage required?

it kinda depends. some manufactures adhere cells to each other and its kinda a pain to separate them without damaging the foil. if they use a servo tape type spacer strip than its pretty easy. just mind the polarity of the cells and solder them accordingly. the tabs coming out of each cell will take solder well just use a hot iron and dont spend too much time heating it, just keep it as cool as possible. what brand of pack is this, out of curiosity? any pics?

When cells are glued with glue or double side tabe, try tooth floss between them.

Some packs are ultrasonic welded, that mean tabs cannot be separated unless cutting them.
