Finally took a few pictures of my logo 600 battery/pinion protector in case anyone is interested for future builds. basically its just two 6S packs with velcro in three places on the packs and velcro all along the battery tray on the sides. That way it holds it in during piros but is pretty easy to get out when needed. I also added a plywood pinion proteector that velcro's to the top of the pack. Hope this helps someone. I also like laughingstill's taped together stick packs, but wanted to keep my modular as i sometimes share packs between my logo 400 and logo 600.

all up weight with canopy is 8.10 pounds with 12S 3300 pack and canopy.

oh, wanted to add i'll probably change to straps soon as the orings work well but i don't trust them over time as they seem to degrade rather quickly.

3300s curious on flight times? I'm about 4:45 if I beat on it with 3800 mah 12s.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

on 603 edge at 2000 rpm, i get 6:30 taking out close to 80% of the pack. between the lower headspeed and the fact that i do mostly smooth 3D, i get decent flight times. I'm sure a real stickbanger could take it out a lot faster than I

Hi there

How do you find that 4035-500 motor....I got the same one but was unsure how it would perform as not many people seem to be using it....What pinion are you running...??

Thanx
Ian

the motor seems great. I use a 11 tooth pinion (mod 1) and also used a 12T for a while. the motor runs on the warm side (140F) but nothing to worry about. Overall seems good. I would recommmend if your running 12S though to get the 4035-400 motor as you can run a larger pinion for more tooth engagement. My buddy has one and it also seems to run cooler, but at a 0.8 oz weight penalty.

You're farther ahead to do the 5020-450 if you want to lower head speed.

But the 4035-500 provides outstanding performance on a 12 tooth with 12s and 620mm blades.

A kid out here is running 12S 2600mah 30C packs with 560kv motor on his 6HV and getting 4:20 of hard 3D flying. Wonder why your flight time is only :20 seconds longer with 1200 more mah?

Thanks for the pics mmc205. I like the plywood pinion protector trick and will definitely use it on mine.

More power.
The more you have available, the more you tend to use.
Most 6hv setups are running 3000 to 3300 watts.
Most logo 600 setups are 4000+ watts.

mmc205 I think you accidentally added me on your ignore list, can someone pm him for me?

Hmm I'm hoping I didn't screw up on mine. I got the xera 4030-470 with ice 80hv using a 11 tooth pinon. I got 40 c 3000mah packs. I guess I will see, will be getting it's maiden this week.

I have also recently converted my Logo 600 to 12s running two 6s 3300 Turnigy 30c packs,Z Power Z50 565kv motor and Jive 80hv.

The model is now a powerhouse and stunning to fly,i have my timer set to 5 mins aeros and smooth 3d and i am putting 2200 to 2400mah back in the packs which some off at 28 to 33 Deg C and the motor is just warm.Love the setup.

update, i've changed to "stick packs" for easy changeouts. I just made up a piece of lexan for each set of packs and now run just one piece of velcro in the front and all the o-rings. makes changouts MUCH easier.

The lexan that joins the packs also acts as a pinion protector.

We've been using carbon or polycarb for a while now due to a couple of pinion related ignitions, belive me it's a worthwhile mod!
Also i dont know what you call it but there is another kind of "velcro" both sides are similar with plastic locking lugs and much better in there is no movement when you remove the packs, they just click out, holding power is also much better so you only have to lightly tie down with a strap.

Common sense may not be common after all

Scorpion has now what is called "LOCK STRAPS" they were inspired by Mr. Mel. They are rubber coated BEEFY lipo straps, will be in vendors very soon and they kick A$$.

hmm, i may have to get some of those scorpion straps, they sound good. Then i could probably get rid of the velcro altogether, though i do like how it cushions the pack from the plastic battery tray a bit (i have small soft pieces over the whole tray and then just one hard piece towards the front so you just have to lift the front of the pack, and then pull it out.

12s 3300mah

I recently put a 12s 2600mah setup together(Alien) and it is insane ballistic fast

so I decided to convert my logo 600 to 12s 3300mah setup..

I currently have it set up for a 10s 4200mah setup and get 4.5 minutes...

Hopefully the 12s setup will be faster though

I use 12S 3300mah, 3000mah, and 3600mah. It is a monster setup and I can get easily over 5 minutes of 3d or 6:30 minutes of mild 3d.

12s 2600mah

I fly a 12s 2600mah in this Alien heli and am finding that I get 4 minutes of 3d flying...but this machine is 7.5lbs ready to fly...

my logo 600 is much heavier...so hopefully the 3300's will be a good size..

this is only my 3rd flight on this new heli so I am still getting used to it ...but as you can see it's pretty fast with a 12s 2600mah setup

nothing great...but you'll get the idea

I fly my Compass 6HV on 12s 2600 packs, all up its a mere 6lbs 11oz ans super quick. Runs 5 minutes of 3d for around 2100mah.

12s and weight saving is the way to go. standard compass motor which is around 2000 watts but plenty of performance due to the weight. Im toying on trying a Logo 600SE, Shortened boom and 500SE belt with compass motor and 2600 packs to see how light and if its as punchy as the 6hv. If it it will run that and the SE, if not have a spare SE :-)
