Running in mine. This engine look promising even rich as hell it has good power

Had to start with the needles half turn more open than manual since I'm flying CY30.

I've got a over gallon through mine now and even though its still pretty new and still running a bit on the rich side it has a ton of power compared to my older SR's. I noticed on mine at least it seems to idle much smoother than my SR's did as well.

For the other people running them, what headspeed and gearing are you running in your heli? I'm at 1950 with 8.2 gears, and it seems pretty happy there on an sb19 muffler, but I think it could probably spin a bit faster. I'd like to run mine at 2k, but I think it would need a new muffler designed for higher rpm. It sure sings at 1950 though, but I think there is more power left untapped so far.

Got er' installed. 2 flights in noticed as much power as SR even as rich. Savoring the eventuality of mo powa and longer flights.

My buddy tamed me down a bit. I had over 14 degrees pitch, no wonder i bogged the old SR down....poor thing. Turns out that after a year and a half, the clunk line also finally went. Now I'm all dressed up and...( still have a good SR)

Noticed the sb-19 muffler header had quite a bit smaller intake than the new engine intake, the v.2 seems a little larger. Got a buddy checking into a new header, if not may go kasama?

Well I can say it's been a while since I have flown a YS, I have had many in the past .61ST, 80, .91ST.. been waiting for the latest 3DS My friend I've been helping got one because of my influnce.

I can say Ys did very well with this engine needle settings were spot on engine started first hit idled well. Ran very smooth for the first few flights mainly hovered it will know more later.

Saw Eric Brandenburg fly his prototype Velocity 90 with the YS91SR-DS in it. He's running an older version SB19-FH-1. His setup was crazy fast, between the head settings, servos etc... He had alot of cyclic speed and for a 90 it was intense. Running SAB red/white 690's and the YS could handle ALOT of abuse and pretty much hold the head on anything he threw at it. It would dip a bit on some aggressive moves, but would hunker down and hold it, where I think older motors would have just fallen off and bogged out. It seemed like one of the powerful E90's the way he was whipping it about. His comment was after 4 tanks he said it had more power than his SR ever had. runs and idles smoother, Seems to like the OS#8 plug. Now he's got about 2-3 gallons on it I tihnk. It's pretty much broken in, and he's really happy with it. Runs cool like YS's do. Likes a 1950HS on a 8.2 ratio heli.

I was happy with his take on this motor as I have one sitting on the shelf waiting for my Velocity 90 to ship, whenever it does.

Last weekend at the Brooks Oregon funfly I got another 2 gallons through thie 91sr3d. Man, it pulls strong even with my marginal collective habits. My 10 yr old loves it too. That being said, I had a reciever lockout and decommissioned said favorite bird for a while. My new backup 700LE with 91 sr was still wonderful now that it's got some fuel through it too, but after a crash repair the sr3d is back and getting big lovins.

Tim Jones was next to us and was hammering his 700N and 91sr3d. Difference is, he's good and knows how to tune. Love the powa.

Hello Everyone,

Got my new YS91SR-3DS a couple of days ago, fit it in my Synergy and has put 4 tanks in for breaking in.

Hardware:

YS91SR-3DS
Hatori 946 with Kasama Header
KY KR3000 fuel 30% Nitro
Enya no.3 plug

Engine Setting:

Factory recommended for start-up.

Weather conditions:

Since I live in Dubai, it is summer at the moment, the breaking-in was done at 5.45am-8.30am. Temperature was 29 - 35 Degrees Celcius.
Performance update:

1. Engine seems to run a lot smoother than the SR.
2. Engine seems to drink less fuel than the SR.
3. I use to pull +/- 12 degrees of pitch with happiness. With this new engine, (still under breaking-in) I have changed the setting to pull +/-13 degrees (at least) without bogging in FULL climbout.
4. I am very impressed with this engine...can't wait to fly some more and get the optimum power out of it.
5. I am very confident that this engine will provide another 20-30% power over the SR.

I am a very happy man and a new convert to YS !!
