After researching and following advice from prev thread, we have been busy weathering my Longranger from the head right down to the tail,

It certainly in my opinion only has changed it from a model into a realistic looking helicopter..

It is almost ready for its few outings..

Still looks better than the full scale I've seen around here. I don't think they wash the thing. I love the full cockpit.

Who makes the scale car, behind the Ranger? How many cells does the lipo have? Seriously, that is what we all will be driving if our goverment gets its way. I saw Toyotas and Nissons in London that I never knew existed.

It's a Smart Car made by Mercedes, they are very popular here in Europe. And very tough in a crash. Here is a TopGear program on one being crashed into a solid concrete block similar to the one Princess Dianas car hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju6t-yyoU8s

Very real looking helicopter, are you going to tell how you did that or is that a secret? Would like to see some video of it flying. Is that a Wren engine? It looks different for some reason.

There were some guys from Australia that put on a cool demo at the Jamboree a few years ago with similar mechs in a Jetranger body.

I have to keep returning to this thread to check out your heli. That's one of the nicest Rangers I've seen in a very long time. Most people go to far with weathering but yours is very tasteful and realistic. That's now my favorite Ranger.

fly it like you stole it

Thanks Guys for the nice compliments,
I was at first nervous ,like anyhting you spend a lot of money on you want to keep it immaculate, but as i want to enter scale comps a good friend who has won a few comps said show me an Immaculate machine, even more so a longranger. he said to me Your aim is to turn it from a plastic toy into a scale machine..
he used to do work for the movie industry and wether it was a scale model of a car or aircraft the first thing the effects dept did was to weather it to make it look more real..

He has guided me in weathering this machine.. and i am very grateful for his advice

The weathering looks good. Your helicopter would look a lot better and more realistic if you put a scale head on it, no real helicopters have a flybar.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Hi Patrick

yeah you are right, it is crying our for a flybarless head, and i will be flying it with a flybar less system..when i save some more money, in the meantimei am gonna fly it and get used to flying a large scale model then swithc over to flybarless..

sas i have only previously did one circuit with it FBL. and the guy i bought the fuse off wanted to keep the electronics..

Hi Matt,

That looks lovely Buddy, I hope you are planning to bring that to our Vario weekend next month and even enter it in our comp in August.

You've done a lovely job and I'll look forward to seeing her in the air.

Cheers
D
