I was wondering does anyone have an opinion on using the Align Motor Vs the 4035-500? My Align has TONS of power but is the scorpion going to be any better?

Scorpion HK4035-530

The new Scorpion HK4035-530 should be perfect.

Any higher Kv and it will probably run too hot.

Also I would get the new ICE 120 ESC that will be out in a week or two. Scorpions will probably have a higher peak current.

Tower has some nice discounts ($25 off) so you should be able to get it at a real good price. http://www.towerhobbies.com/

Mine came with a loose magnet that dislodged while setting the end points of my radio. Never turned a blade. It was replaced and my helo is flying great.

I'm running the stock motor on a FBL 700e (HeliCommand HC3-X) with a CC ICE 80HV and 12s 4500 EM 30C packs. Turning 2000 RPM it has more power than a nitro and still gets reasonable flight times. The packs take approx 3400 after a 7 min flight of F3C type aero and mild 3D. IMO, not bad for out of the box

Yes the 700M...

I've got my timer at 8 minutes and have a lot of battery left. I could proabably do 10 and still have the 20% margin.

All align motors run hot if you fly hard but they still run ok. I think that Align just likes to design motors that run hot.

The only way to know if Scorpions are more efficient is for someone to due back to back testing.

If you've got a 4035-500 in hand, you might as well give it a try and see if it runs better.

heat is lost efficiency in an electric motor.

a cooler running motor is more efficient than a hot running motor.

had the same issue with the 500 stock motor. after switching to scorpion, it ran very cool and gave more power. (back to back testing)
