I have a JRx9303 2.4 heli radio. I'm going back to basics and practicing my hovering again, and while I can hover in one place over the ground, I find it difficult to keep the heli atone altitude. Very minute adjustments on the left stick seem to cause over-correction. I can overcome this by flattening out the pitch curve, but then it's not linear, and makes tic tocs etc hard to do

Is this just something I have to learn to overcome rather than tame in the radio? I really want to nail a perfect hover...

U can try lowering your head speed
or hover in normal mode with a broad pitch range
or learn to control it

there is no right or wrong way IMO
it's all about your preferences

If you can do tic tocs. Set it back so you can fly as you do.
learn to control the hover.
When alot of poeple. start all out flying. They forget the basics things
Them do not try to hover any more. But it should all start with a hover.

If you hover in normal mode than add expo only in normal mode.

Neither have I, I'm sort of surprised there isnt one though
The more I practice, the easier its getting....

It's been very windy which I guess in the long run will help me. After this, a calm day should be easy!

i have the 72 mhz JR 9303 and you can set expo on the pitch. its a little differnt than with cyclic. when you are in the pitch curve page after you pick what flight mode you want to set the pitch curve for on the left side of the screen there is "EXP" fallowed by "OFF". just set that to "ON". it will make the pitch curve more rounded but you need to set differnt points on the pitch curve to get it how you want it. if you have a completly streight pitch curve it wont do anything unless you move some points around. i think the thorottle is the same way.

Muddin, I think you're talking about the Swash Expo function in the radio. If so, that's for getting rid of CCPM interaction, and doesn't effect only the pitch.

If you want pitch expo, you use the pitch curve. That's half the reason it's there. For example a curve like this would give you some positive expo:

0-30-50-70-100

Doing that will make it easier to hover, but you'll find when doing 3d maneuvers like tic tocs, you're going to be moving the collective stick a little more.

A curve like this:

0-20-50-80-100

Will make it so that when you're doing tic tocs, you don't have to move the stick around so much, but it will be harder to find that hover point.

That's what the term "S" curve is all about. Simply tuning your collective response to how you like. It's exactly the same as expo.

If it can't hover, it ain't worth flying.

if you read my post i am talking about the pitch curve. all im saying is that if you have a curve like 0-30-50-70-100 if you want it to be smooth you need to turn expo on when your on the pitch curve page.

Fair enough. I'm not that familiar with the 9303, so I was just guessing.

If it can't hover, it ain't worth flying.
