It does take a little while to build the pressure in the tank though. If you run it for a few minutes or so, then try it it should work. How is the motor running? If it doesn't run well or at all, you may simply have your checkvalve backwards...

At the end of a flight with about 1/5th left it doesn't make any noticable pressure release,I'm on about 1/2 gallon running in and on 2 turns out on the main,it seems to be running ok, i did try it very briefly with the vent open and it still flew ok, (lift off/touch down, 30 seconds max), i could only blow one way through the checker valve and have it so the long side of the valve body is closest to the engine,

We had a YS engine sitting in the woods for a week and it hissed when he pulled the vent line

You should definately hear it. As he said, check your tank and lines.

And check valve . . . you do have it connected to the nipple on the backplate, and going to the tank, and not somewhere else, correct?
