I heard from a vendor at a fun fly today that the US government is not letting people ship or is it import Lipos greater than 4S?
He said that 6S batteries are comming to him shipped as 2 3S packs but still shrink wrapped together. He then solders or bananna jacks the 2 packs to make them series.

A friend told me that his 6S packs from Hobby City are stuck in customes or the HK airport or something like that for 4 days.

Anyone heard of that?

All the split packs I have seen come with the bullets already on, just plug together and fly. No need to do anything else. Here's a link to a thread already started with the actual rules and regs and not second hand info:

I might be wrong but I thought it was the hong kong post that was banning shipments. But it was solved by using a private company like UPS. Or am I way off

Does not matter who they ship with - international law now states:
"SPLIT" LIPO PACKS
Recent changes in international shipping regulations limit single cells to 20Wh, and packs to 100Wh. That means that the largest legal cell capacity is 5400mAh, and packs 4000mAh and up are internally "split" depending on their total Watt-Hours contained. Split packs can be identified on dealer websites by an extra "S" in the part number at the end

i ordered lipo's which where on back order from hobbyking, did get a tracking number that did not work, after some time i got another one, that too does not work and thats after being told hong kong had a back log and a new tracking number was given, that dont work also, again informed that singapore has a back log.

i think the back log is with them and they dont have the stock, they keep you waiting for back orders, then say its in stock but give false tracking number and say there is back log in hong kong/ singapore.

its ok for thenm to email saying items will turn up but when the tracking numbers dont work it does not give you much faith. from what i know most parcel companys pick the parcel up its then scranned, the information is then entered into a pc.

from the 1st tracking number not working, i would take it hobbyking went to the airport and got the parcel back or they are trying to ship lipo out as 6cell instead of the slipand they have been cought red handed and cant find away round it.

i have email hobbyking and asked how they are shipping lipo's with the new shipping law, they dont answer that one

well as from the 18th of this month if the tracking number does not work or parcel show up(14day that will be ). i'll be asking for a full refund to my paypal or credit card company involved

HK is now routing lipo shipment thru Singapore. If you have a tracking number ending in SG then that's what's going on.

Hyperion have been making split packs for months now to meet this new international shipping regulation.

Here is what the Hyperion spec sheet now says:
Packs ending in S6S, S7S, and all packs 8S, 10S, 12S are internally "split" in order to meet international shipping regulations on watt-
hours per pack. 6S and 7S Split packs are supplied a "Y" harness for balance adapter. For users of Hyperion DUO dual-port (or 2x NET)
chargers, you may charge the packs WITHOUT the "Y" adapter while they remain SPLIT, using both charge ports and SYNC MODE. Users
of other-brand single-port chargers will be able to charge these packs via the Y adapters as a single pack, assuming the charger supports
the "S" count of the pack when series wired. 8S to 12S packs are intended for use with Hyperion DUO or 2x NET chargers via SYNC
Mode (or upcoming 1420iNET charger as single pack will be possible, too). For other-brand chargers as a single pack, it may be possible
to use adapters HP-EOSLBA-**HPxx, which come in Thunderpower, EH, and XH balancer versions for 2S to 7S.
VX 6500mAh are no longer in production, as they exceed the 20Wh per cell limit on shipping, but remain in stock at select dealers.

No worries psych-lick.

It's really not that big a deal. It really seems to be getting blown out of proportion here and elsewhere. You just join the two bullets - done. Some split packs just have wire so you can either just solder these together or I prefer to fit bullets and then plug together. I always fit a piece of heat shrink over the bullets.

You got to solder your own plug on anyway, right.
