Hi, Iam trying to mount the onboard generator on my mongoose. How do i take the shaft out to put the pulley on ? Also, when disconnecting the tail boom do i take the belt out from the tail blades end or from the main frame side ? Which is easier ? Thanks
Raj

I have just got one from Airstar & have not fitted it yet but hope to do it today the way i am going to tackle it is remove the bottom pulley under the the lower plate, then undo the clamping bolt on the tail pulley that is on the secondary drive shaft & then simply slide the shaft upwards towards the head untill the shaft at the bottom is clear enough of the lower bearing block to allow for the generator pulley to slide in before pushing the shaft back down again, but as i say i have not done mine yet so will let you know if way works or not.

Sounds right. I can't imagine flying a gasser without a generator.

Assembly manual

You got it right Plantone. You can download the assembly manual from my gallery for the Mongoose. Has nice photos and instructions. Good luck!

You'll love that generator! As for dismounting the boom, I took the belt off at the main frame side.

RAJ

i put on my generator last night it took me less than 10 minutes to do it easy. THe only thing i found was the motor mounting plate is really tight inside the frames & i had to loosen the boom clamp bolts & spread the side frames a tad but once it was in i did these up again.

On Airstars new duel output can someone tell me which of the brown & green lead for the downlink power is the positive one, thanks

Thanks guys. How do you pull out the pin from the bottom pulley. It seems really tight. Thanks

Raj..

There is a set screw 3x3mm in the bottom ot the Secondary/Transverse shaft. Once you remove that there is a pin that goes through the pulley. Just drive the pin out and the pulley will slide rite off and your shaft will slide out from the top.

Its described pretty well on Page-4 of the Mongoose assembly manual. You can download it from here:

http://www.airstarintl.com/airstar-documents.php

Select "Mongoose Mainframe Assembly".

Let me know if I can be of further assistance...

RM.
